This is a great build, with its chunky, old Technic tires and its honest Lego studs all over the body. The shape looks good and an excellent reproduction of the car in the photo. The car looks really solid. It's the sort of thing that I would have loved to have been able to build when I built Technic cars.

This is a excellent build; all of the functions are very neat and really help to make this moc great.

This is so cool. Most of my bricks date back to the 70's and early 80's so I really like what you've accomplished with what you have (talent and bricks). Love those big wheels!

Congrats on reaching 100 likes :D I thought I had commented on this before, but obviously I was too amazed to be able to write anything. The full stud effect is very old-school, fitting with the rat theme. Of course the details are amazing; the engine, the steering, the interior, the door handles, the radiator, the air filter, oh I could go on and on! Anway, and amazing large scale rat rod. Great work, and I can't wait to see your next creation :)

Thanks for the nice comment! Some new stuff is coming soon. Lego building is juggled with other things, hence why I appear slow to post. Big model to post before Christmas... UPDATE: Probably after Christmas - it's taking a while! (it is about 80 studs long though...)

This is an excellent model. The proportions are spot-on for me and the details are very good. I really like the use of the old large technic wheels. By having them open in a hot rod style you get the scale without a heavy body. A model with total design integrity - super job.

having the studs out makes this look like a kit, not custom. Nice job

hey ape fight were'd you get the wheels?

I was given a load of secondhand Lego as a present (which is where most of my bricks are from). These wheels are from the early '80s Technic sets- you can get them on ebay though.

I think I'll build a rat rod next. I added a trunk to "sunburst," and it looks much better

OK.it's look soo good and this detailed motor is really fantastic.Nice built.

Alright, there's only two things I can criticize. The first one is that the shifter and the near vicinity need a little work. The other is hardly worth mentioning, that is that the steering system on the front is slightly different than the one in the picture. Personally, I like yours better though.:) Other than these, this is a masterpiece. Great work.

Nice rod. Thanks a lot for the nice comment on my latest masterpiece. It is red because that is what I have. And the side scoops, Lambo doors and tailfin were added to fill the 'unique' category. I've never been famous for being normal. :) Besides, I thought that a big expanse of red looked bad there on the side. Thanks for the encouragement about the bodywork--I like it myself. The engine is dear to my heart as well...took me about a month. And I'm thrilled that I made it into the Member's Rods section of ~The Rod Club~...you just made my day. -matthew-

Reply: Yeh, I agree. I don't think they are too large (look at the picture of the real one- it has truck wheels!) but the tyres are too chunky, they really belong on an off-roader, but hey, that's what Lego was like back in the day!

cuz im trying to make a rat with gearbox and pendular suspension (with controlled steering as well) and ive figured out every last technic bit just the gearbox size is sooo annoying...

can you some how show me a picture of the gearbox's side and inside...cuz i tried the same way with the changeover piece and the dog gear but my gearbox turned out 6-wide!!! if you cant show me then thats fine :)
