My phone rang at 10:00 this morning. The officer on the other end asked me if I had heard the news. He then told me that one of the officers from our department had died last night. Out of respect for the privacy of the family, I will NOT be giving any further details as to what happened.
I would just like to ask a favor. The next time you're playing "Grand Theft Auto" (or any game like that that glorifies criminals and vilifies the police), take a moment to realize that although the game may be fun, in real life, Police Officers put their lives on the line EVERY DAY so that you can sleep safely at night. And, Think twice before you make comments about cops being the "bad guy".
This is not only a tirbute to "Officer H", but also to every other police officer who has given his life for the safety of others.
Thank you ~ Chris.
Addition - I would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt remarks. I would also like to clarify that I don't have anything against "games". Games are a great escape. So please (and I mean this) enjoy "GTA" (I was using it as an example). Just know that when you turn off the game, what really happens out there is completely different. Again, thank you.
ADDITION 08-12-08. Very rarely do I delete a comment but I felt the need to do so here. "Someone" made a derogitory comment on this page, a badly spelled comment I might add. Usually SPAM doesn't bother me. It shows that not only are people paying attention but I find it funny that they have nothing better to do with their time than to make themselves feel better by insulting others. These people obviously have self esteem issues. The next time "you" are going to "try" your attempt at humor, do it on something that's not a memorial to someone's memory. Or maybe you'd find it amusing for someone to desicrate the memorial of one of your loved ones... think about it.
Congratulations on the MOTD, but of course, the real purpose of this is more important. It was very honorable and respectful for you to tribute a fallen hero in his course of action and or duty. Rest in peace, Officer H. He's in a better place now.
Very nice post Chris! Very touching as well! I'm sure Officer H was an inbodyment of what every officer stands for, to serve and protect! I agree that the way law enforcement officer are treated, especially nowadays, is appalling. Everytime I see some ridiculous YouTube video about "Cop blocks" or "Cops out of control" I'm repulsed. Cops have a hard enough time dealing with murders, rapests and seeing the worst side of society, so by harassing them while they're just trying to do there job just makes it that much harder on them. I work with and around cops a lot and even share a work space with them and they all are just like you and me, kind men and women just doing there job to serve and protect our community. May officer H rest in peace and may his sacrifice not be in vain!
Chris, thank you very much for remembring all the (from my view) heroes who gave their lifes in the line of duty. I think every single one will be never been forgotten. It's a very heart touching creation and a very well deserved MOTD. Best wishes from Germany, Sven
You know, in this world emptiness is a promise, the evil is just the proof. And every day cops stick out their necks to try and take away some of the emptiness in this world. Too many people view the cops as "scary people who give out tickets" or "the bad guy." They rarely get any of the respect or trust that they deserve, just anger and confusion. And to think that someone would go so far as to be labeled a cop killer is an abomination that is far beyond me. While this brave man's life may be gone, he has inspired many, if only through this MOTD.
Thank you for this. Though I am not American, my Uncle was a police officer in my own country. He was shot five times in a raid before I was born. So thank you for this heartfelt memorial to all law enforcement officers
How I passed this one up I do not know. I possess a certificate in grief counseling and if you read my up-dated bio you'd see I got to use it during the 9-11 days! I loved the fact you pointed out with this one not only can LEGO be used to express ones feelings of grief BUT can be used as a tool for healing that grief! RIGHT ON with your comment about "Grand Theft Auto"! I wish one day we could meet!
My heart, mind and soul just said a prayer for your pal "Officer H"!
Pax vox bis cum!
It's great that you respect someone so close to you. Thank god for all of our armed men and women in the states.
R.I.P. Officer H

First up, I honour your level of respect for your fellow comrades, it's great to see people who actually care.
I'm sure your friend was a great guy.
I have only ever lost one person dear to me in my life so far, and I know from experience the pain was un-bearable.
Well done for sticking up to 'Officer H' as you have, you're truly a great guy.
I also hope that this makes people think about the countless soldiers, police, and other members of our community that spend countless hours, trying to keep us safe. Also, GTA is fun, but it glorifies crime and to many kids play it and get the wrong idea
The derogatory remarks regarding anyone's late loved ones is sick, disgusting and inhuman. Anyone wishing to desecrate the honor of those risking there lives so you can besmirch what they do is a wicked, terrible individual who is no help to society.
RIP all fallen Soldiers, LEO's and public servants.
Great moc, wish my best to the family.
I agree with the two guys below me. Cops dont deserve to die, and anyone who thinks that killing cops is fun cute or anything is horribly messed up. In fact- I have a friend who's a cop and goes to my church (im mormon and mormon is the best religion you'll ever be apart of). Keep up the good work!!
I'm sad to hear that. What ticks me off is that some people actully LIKE to kill cops! I can't stand that kind of that stuff. I just heard about the 4 cops shot execution-style. They otta take that guy out behind the police station and do to him what he did to those cops. I'm gonna make a memorial moc for those 4 officers.
Great memorial. Always nice to see someone honor those in a more abstract way then just "My prayers are with you". That is good an all, but this gives it more of a personal touch. My condolences to Officer H's Family. Altough Firefighters and Cops are "rivals" They can care about one another. I would like all the cops to feel for me when I die, as do all the firefighters for the cops. Once again, Great Job!

yeah i play grand theft auto but i try to avoid killing cops cause my uncle is one
when your not being funny and goofing around people have to notice how you have a truly kind heart. in addition to this being a great MOC it has meaning and thought in it. may he rest in peace and I'm glad he did something very worthwhile while he lived.
Dude... you're totally right. The cops are now recognized in *popular* culture that the cops are the bad guys... and somehow, the bad guys arent the bad guys. It makes no sense. Im really sorry, man... You really cared about this man...
I'm really sorry to hear this. I'm sure he was a great man and friend. You know, this MOC really made me think about policemen and life. I never realized it, but you're right. Everyday, policemen risk their lives to help us. It was truly kind of you to post this. May he rest in peace.
Ya, GTA doesn't really make the police look good, which is why I prefer Crackdown, because you get to be a super-cop. People die everywhere each day, and you only really realise that when someone important to you dies. Police officers protect people from crime, and without them, most of us would have been robbed twice and/or killed. So when you see police officers, tell them that they do their job well.
Keep The Peace.
The Police Department is a revered hall of peacekeeping. That is why a fallen comrade is always remembered. A member of the local PD was killed in a car accident recently. He was a friend of almost everyone in town. I pay homage to him when I say, I express my grief of a fallen officer.
I see police officers the same way I view my fellow Vets. Men and Women who selflessly serve their country even if what they do is not appriciated. I lost a lot of friends in Iraq and Afghanastan, but also a close friend who was a plice officer in my home town. I look at all their sacrifice the same and thanks for posting this tribute.
sorry for what happend to the police officer i had never played those ganng games were you kill cops i rarley play games yes cops are wonderfull they have helped me from after i got baeat up and the police officer watched them so they wont do it again
I'm a bit late, but I just took the time to read your post. A fitting tribute. I have four friends serving their respective communities around Indiana, so my heart always skips a beat when I hear of an officer lost in the line of duty.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Send my regards to his family. May he rest in peace with all others who gave their life for our benefit.~ Miggy

I hope I'm not too late here to say I'm sorry for what has happened and my best wishes go out to everyone affected by this, even though I didn't see this until now I felt like I should say something about how truly touched I am by this. My thanks to you and police officers everywhere.

wow more than correct i once saw a mural with gta playing on a gamecube after killing someone THERE IS NO RESET ON LIFE,and PULL A TRIGGER,SHATTER A LIFE truly heart wrenching knowing they made bully a t rated game that takes a role of a kid where you punch teachers!? and you can kiss anyone, manhunt 2 is nightmare fuel unleaded and both made by
rockstar who came out with family friendly table tennis
in all advantage escape from reality disadvantage escape from reality
a kid in my class said 2/3 of his collection of games are rated ao,
maybe its the misaimed advertising like halo kiddies and postal is just more disturbing, and tramuatizing you can do good or bad and most choose the other one. afols, ffols, if you have children stay away because on an adult mind they seem to forget the line between reality and fiction but on a young mind this is anarchy fuel finally:video games are a mixed blessing from where we were battling giant chimps with small pixellated men to games where you have to slaguhter the innocent if you agree send me a comment because this
email is kinda bad. it can work well to stop these games from sealing in minds.
may the officer rest his soul in peace.
for he who has risked his life for us derserves respect
and we who do not appreciate?
we should all appreciate what people do for us no matter how small the task and when big the task is? they deserve more.
Hello Chris! Iīm sorry for the loss of your colleague/friend. I canīt even imagine... People tend to not think of death until they are personally concerned by the sudden loss of a close person, and this memorial here reminds us of what can happen so easily. Last month, a grandpa and his 5-year-old grand daughter got caught in a sliding car in the town I live in. He died, and she got severely injured. It just seems so unfair... To GTA: It just canīt be taken serious by people, but unfortunatly some people sometimes do... May I offer my sincere condolences ____Steffen
Well, what I really wanted to say was apparently too long and it won't go through. So I'll just say that this is a definite Make You Think MOC award winner in my book, but it's a tragedy that it has to exist at all. That seems so damned inadequate. I could write pages about this.
I am very sorry for your loss, Chris. Your model is a very nice tribute/remembrance to your friend. Know that there are plenty of us who don't think cops are bad guys and very much appreciate them for risking their lives every day to keep our communities safe. -N.
Always hard to lose someone...
but maybe mocpages isnt the place for posting this?
The police forces arent like the ones in GTA guys.
They are no computers, but real human beings.
and now I feel like saying peace.
Sorry to hear about your fellow officer. Thanks to all the officers out there who keep fighting back the darkness. Perhaps in the future people will learn to get along better. I'm thinking that's a ways off. Hope I'm wrong. Thanks for reminding us to thank a cop now and again. Thank you. Garth
That is very sad to hear. I think you did good to commemorate it... at lest as good as you could get in Lego. My condolences to his family. Oh, and Phipson, even though you are the class clown on MOCpages, I really respect you profession. Kudos to you for keeping it up.
My best wishes are with his family, may he rest in peace. Sometimes, times like this we cannot nearly express our full feelings, may he rest in peace. This is why I really dont like games like GTA that much, it puts officers down but they really are the line between being shot/robbed or being safe and comfy in your home.
I'm sorry Chris,I'd like to say that I can feel your pain, but so many times we humans can't really express ourselves the way we intend,so I'll just say:May God bless his family and friends,my prayers go out to them.~Robert
There are a lot of web-sites for remembering diseased police officers, but I have never seen a MOC in memory of a police officer who died. My greatest respect to the familly and may he rest in peace.
That's why I don't like games like GTA.
I had a feeling I'd see something from you today. And where I used to live (Sweden), I can tell you right now that they're not as nice. But then again, the entire government over there is really bad. I think taxes are over 50% now...
I'm really sorry to hear of this, Chris. There's an officer here in Indy who was recently shot and critically wounded. My prayers go out to the families of all officers who've made such sacrifices, and my thanks to those who take the risks for the sake of our benefit.
Losing someone close to you is the toughest thing. Whomever was lost recently, i think i speak for Mocpages when i say, we will be thinking about that persons family.
This really makes you appreciate life. It teaches you to cherish every moment, because life is so delicate. I will prayer for their family tonight.
They're citizens just like you and me, except that they're willing to put their lives on the line to protect us all. Calling them "bad guys" is inexcusable ignorance. We will celebrate his life, and others who have sacrificed for the safety everyone.
I'm sorry to hear that. I send my regards to his family. Some people play GTA for the fun of thinking that they're killing people. Some don't understand that it can be like that in the REAL world as well. I have to say that it was thoughtful of you to build this.~ElNickre
