Santa Claus - Bust

A small bust of Santa Claus. My first real attempt at a sculpture.
About this creation
With the holiday season upon us, I got the urge to make a bust of dear old Santa Claus. This is pretty much my first sculpture (aside from a UCS Yoda that I built almost three years ago). I'm pretty happy with the results, although I see a few areas for improvement. This was however a fun learning experience and I may try my hand at more sculptures in the future. (Built 2004-12-09)



Enlarge image 		   Nice bushy beard. I actually redid the beard once I finished the shoulders, it just wasn't large enough.



Enlarge image 		   What would Santa's cap be without the little ball? Looking back, I think I would prefer his beard in grey and his cap trim in white, but his beard would have ate up a LOT of my remaining grey.



Enlarge image 		   I was worried that his eyes might look weird, but I think they turned out ok. The real trick will be to come up with a different eye shape for my next person.

Make the hat white where the grey parts is, otherwise it is awesome.

Not bad for a first :-) I have a suggestion for the cap border- why not use white, and border it up with black plates to separate it from the beard? you'd save your grey, and his hat'd look better.
