An Imperial version of the star wars republic gunship, seen in episodes II and III.
About this creation
Hi,
Whilst waiting for the first batch of parts we ordered for the 1/3 lamborghini cala project; I got bored.
On top of that, I noticed I had two lego stormtroopers and an imperial commander guy; but no imperial vehicles.
I also noticed my brother had made a lego spaceship vaguely resembling this one in shape (though he hadn't quite got the idea that multicolored lego models with sides made out of normal bricks aren't that attractive)
Even though; the shape (which was very similar to this model; just without the big engines on top, and the wings were on the bottom, not the top) inspired me to build a vehicle for my poor little lost stormtroopers.
I persuaded him to let me build a revamped version of his model, so he insists I mention he contributed to the making of this one :)
I liked the republic gunship shape, and thought that this model would be a sort of mix between that, and my brother's old model.
The result; the 'imperial gunship' . It serves the same purpose as the republic gunship ; as you can see by the open sides etc; and a lot of the design was obviously heavily inspired by it.
On the other hand; it also has a rear loading ramp with a small turret I quickly pieced together for the sake of it; which I suppose could be used for a whole bunch of things.
The color was white because that's pretty much the only color I had enough good bits of; and even then, the back side panels had to be grey . I think the colors go good enough together , though.
Again; this is a case of trying to do your best with the limited pieces you have; so it's probably not that excellent...

3/4 view

detail of engines and rear side panels

close-up of open sides ; note the storgae compartments just behind the cockpit at the front, and the net on the ceiling which, besides being a pain in the ass to fit on, holds the stormtroopers' weapons, or other gear.

zoom of the cockpit; small interior light behind the pilot.

view from the rear; loading ramp open - note the landing lights on the ramp and 4 interior lights on the ceiling on the inside.

bird's eye view ... though I suppose most birds would fly at lower altitude ... er ... top view, anyway.

Side view. At any other angle you woulnd't notice those clear bricks underneath that otherwise give it the impression of hovering over the ground...
P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=stacey_love )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !

I really like the idea. I just think it could be a little bigger with larger wings and more room for troops. Other than that, great work! Check out my Star Wars MOC's. |

The overall shape looks great !!! I love the engines and the colors too. Maybe you should add an opening door on the side (where the troops are), but apart from that it's pretty good.
