About this creation
They Will Break upon this fortress like water on rock. Saramans Hord's will pillage and burn, We've seen it before. Crops can be resown, homes rebuilt. Within these walls we will out last them - Theodin King
They do not come to destroy Rohan's crops or villages.. They come to destroy its people, down to the last child - Aragorn.
The Dual Flags
Rohan's Archers
Wait a minute... is that Trap Jaw hanging out with Frankenstein at the pub??? How did you get out of Eternia?
The "floating" stairs.
Aragorn and Gimli
The Random Axeman
I used to think the King's mountain fortress at a whopping 500 pieces was ginormous. Looks pretty small now doesnt it?
There's a rare sighting indeed, a female dwarf (faints) they do exist!!
Legolas
The inner Keep
Well, Thats all folks. The model took about two weekends to build.
Construction Began: 6-21-08
Posted to MOCpages: 7-15-08
So I've decide to make a "room for improvement" list of the Critiques that I've heard here and elsewhere in Legoland:
01- Make the stairs into a ramp. - I like them how they are
02- The cross arrow slits change to straight arrow slits - I like them how they are
03- You have too many legos. - I Agree
04- Try breaking up the waterfall at the base - Not worth the time because its basically invisible
05- That’s no Orc horn - No, its Lego
06- The landscaping is a bit bland - There are 150 tree leaves, a Farm, 200+ Flowers, 2,000 green pieces to make the gentle slope, and a waterway.
07- It seems a bit lacking in numbers and accuracy - I'm not buying 30,000 Orcs at $2-3/each. This set is 15,000 pieces on a base of 160x100 studs.
08- Put some bars under the wall in the waterway - Thought about it, didn't bother.
09- More minifigs - 115 isn't enough?
10- Miss a piece: the entrance to the cave - Had this and tore it town. Would require twice as much rocks to look like it fits. Don't want to do that b/c of space and cost.
11- Crownies again instead of armed farmers - These are farmers armed in crownie uniforms.
12- Adding some details would be a bonus - Example please. Do I need a ferris wheel?
13- Where are all the elves - There are 8 only. Brickforge isn't cheap. They fill the wall ok though.
14- Where's the huge gory chaotic battle scene - If I move the Orcs forward then the back is empty. Would require about another 100-200 people and ladders etc.
15- Could've done the far east part a bit better - I bought all of these flowers and wanted to use them.
16- There is no waterfall in the movie - I swear there was one. Are you calling me a liar?
17- There needs to be that little door next to the gate - Check out Muskovich's Helm's Deep . His has a door, so we're covered.
18- Make the hornburg taller - How would it fit in the picture then?
19- You probably need to watch the movie again and figure out some details - I called it "Eggplant's Deep" not "Helm's Deep". When you make one, you can call it Helm's Deep. Or Eggplant's Deep if you want. You might even be tempted to put in an oxygen bar, monorail, or holo-deck. That said, I think I remember the movie having a pub imbedded in the mountain. Why else would the Uruk be trying to get in?
Ok, I've been trying to figure this out for several days. This build looks sooo much like something I've seen before. And for those of you from California may know what I'm talking about. The casino on Catalina Island? Link It is crazy

Awesome build. lots of detail on the wall, gate, stairs, and keep, essentially the important parts. who really watches the movie and says,"oh, what nice flowers they have there on the ground behind that battle there at helms deep" it would be nice to see some more intense battling, but overall, an awesome build. |

on the whole, your build is good, and I praise you for your amazing rock formations. However, the proportions are quite off and your keep lacks the stunning detail of the rest of the model. However, I do like all your little modifications. 4/5 |

I mean when anyone of you lunatics build anything like this tell me, but if you are notcapable of doing that I would all please you to shut your mouth, and as Eggplant mentioned allready it is EGGPLANT'S DEEP !!! oh and I saw that somebody mentioned that it doesn't have enough minifigs... I mean the guy used about 100 minifigs... I personaly don't like crosses right and left to the main gate, but it is EGGPLANT'S DEEP !!! |

Okay, first, WOW, HUGE!!! Now that is out of my system, time to critique. It is not my favorite Helm's Deep on MOCpages, but it is one of the cleanest. Then again, this is Eggplant's deep, so... I do wish there was a battle, there is no waterfall in the movie, and there needs to be that little door next to the gate, but, again, it is loosely based on the movie, not exactly. So, a 5/5 for you, Mr. Eggplant. Great job! |

While I very much appreciate the bare shots that allow us to see the fantastic construction in all its detail, I can't help but feel that we're being shortchanged somehow. Where's the huge gory chaotic battle scene? Legolas and Gimli can't start tallying kills if all the armies do is just stand there glaring at each other, you know! This instant gratification society of ours doesn't want any "calm before the storm" stuff -- we want blood! We want it now! |

I think this is the best Helm's Deep here, but I think you could've done the far east part a bit better. Still, who am I to say anything? Have you ever read Terry Pratchett's Discworld series? In there, the only difference between a female dwarf and a male one is that they are of the opposite sex.
