About this creation
Let me start by giving credit where it is due. This design is based off the brilliant work of Brian Tobin. I wanted a more realistic looking snowspeeder for my Hoth set. After looking high and low, Brian’s appealed to me the most. I originally intended to just reproduce his design. After working with it, I decided I wanted to improve on a couple things he pointed out he did not like about it. I think I was able to do just that and more to the point where I am comfortable calling this my own. After turning it every which way I can, I don’t see any unflattering angles. I also took visual cues off of Alex M.'s speeder variation for the fins and rear gun. And for you purists, there is not one Lego piece that has been cut, painted, or modified in any way. I am very happy with the final product. I might even make another.

This a great straight on shot showing my improved front end. It took some time figuring out how to attach the angle pieces, which I will reveal below.

I added this movie still as a reference to show just how steep the front angles are on the actual movie prop, and for comparison with mine.

This shows the rear heat fins, gun, and movable lower air bakes. And lets not forget the rare 3 x 4 x 1 1/3 clear windscreen. I had to choose form over function and not have upper air brakes. Everything I tried came out too bulky.

Here we see Luke and Dack in the cockpit, with handles on the canopy so Dack can close it.

Not much to say here. Just showing some construction details.

I removed the canopy to highlight the custom sticker work. I don't consider this a "mod" since the stickers could be removed with no damage to the piece.

The front cockpit area.

My secret revealed as to how I attached the front angle pieces. I wasn't sure I could do this without cutting something, but I think it worked out well.

Very creative wing attachments and shaping. But where did you find those grill stickers? I recently built my own snow speeder if you want to stop by and see!
Thanks! The front stickers are from set #7666 Hoth Rebel Base and the engine stickers are from set #6208 B-Wing Fighter. |

i remember seeing this. it still surprises me that you were able to angle the front panels. but it seems too steep of an angle. but it still is great. and i might get Luke's speeder up today. |

Haha, this is a sick snowspeeder design. It's a bit studdy, and the open gap in the top of the canopy bothers me, but I love the angle work, interior, and little details here and there. And do I spot my radiator fin and harpoon gun on the back, or am I just being delusional (and hypocritical to think it's mine)? Anyway, bottom line is, this snowspeeder looks ingenious.
Thanks! The gap in the canopy is to mimic the sun roof opening in the actual model. And you are correct, I liked how your fins and rear gun looked and did something similar. I couldn't find it again after I was done to give credit so I'll do that now. |

This is very very nice!!!Did you make the decals?
The front and interior decals are from one of the snowspeeder sets cut to fit where I wanted them. The others I got from bricklink. |

Wonderful! The design is AWESOME, though the snowspeeder could do with a bit more color on the front part of the wings. Like some orange and dark bley tiles and grills :D |

Great MOC. I think the heat fins on the back need a little work, so I give you 4.9 stars. Since I can't really do that though I will just give you a 5 for this sexy speeder. Check out the K-wing that I just posted a few days ago. |
