Journey to the Center of the Earth: Chapter V: Death by Greed
About this creation
Before you begin reading Chapter V, if you have not done so, please read Chapter I, Chapter II, Chapter III and Chapter IV first.
Unknown number of miles under the Earth's Crust
Late July, early August, 1919:
Having left the Mole back in the forest, our trio has wandered for an unknown number of days, possibly weeks, after getting lost in the forest. They survived on the edible foliage they could find, along with fresh spring water. They reach an immense, open cavern, full of magma pits...
Professor Beckett: "This must be it! This must be the center of the Earth! Look at all of this magma!"
Ms. Rommel: "How do you know!? We have no map, no nothing! It's all back at the Mole!"
Professor Beckett: "I think it is safe to assume, Miss Rommel."
Ms. Rommel: "Yeah, well you know what assume makes you and me!"
Dr. Omaha: "Speaking of: FREEZE!"
Professor Beckett: "*chuckle* Good one, Doc, now put that revolver away before someone gets hurt."
Dr. Omaha: "Don't worry, I'll see to it that someone does!"
Professor Beckett: "My God, you're not playing around..."
Miss Rommel: "Why you dirty, rotten skunk! Why are you doing this to us!?"
Dr. Omaha: "Why? WHY!? I'll tell you why! We have been down here for weeks upon weeks, possibly months! Who the heck knows?! And all of these minerals; these artifacts! Do you know how valuable and priceless they will be? Why, everyone will want a crystal from underneath the Earth! And you fools want to test them, and find practical, ethical uses for them! Even the mushrooms and plants we've gathered. Why, they could be the link to curing hundreds of diseases! And I can just picture you two giving them to hospitals for nothing. I won't have it! I'm going to kill you both, then walk back to the Mole, and get the heck out of this Hell-hole with the loot!"
Professor Beckett: "Won't people find it suspicious that you were the last person we were seen with before we "vanished"?"
Dr. Omaha: "Oh, don't worry! I'll fabricate some story about how you were tragically killed during the mission, and how I tried to save you, but it was no good. And I'll look like the hero who made it to the center of the Earth, and I'll be one of the wealthiest men alive."
Professor Beckett: "So you had this planned all along?"
Dr. Omaha: "Ever since I laid eyes on that crystal in your labratory. So I can do this one of two ways: I can either blow your brains out now, or I can leave you here to starve. Pick your posion."
Professor Beckett: "Oh my God........Jacques....turn around. Quick!"
Dr. Omaha: "I know what game you're trying to play, and it's not going to work on me. I'm too smart for you fools!
God! What the hell is this! Put me down!"
Ms. Rommel: "Jesus! It's got him!"
Professor Beckett: "It's eaten his head! Miss Rommel, quick! I don't know if we're gonna make it out of this one alive; kiss me!
Now let's get out of here! Hurry, grab your little pet! Don't look back!
Go go go! Quickly!"
Unknown Magma Creature: "RRRRAAAWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRR!"
The Diorama: A little smaller than the previous ones. Lifelites as always, for an eye-lighting and magma effect.

Stay tuned for the dramatic conclusion: Chapter VI.

Great build, but the Magma Creature does remind me of one certain creature from inside the earth who looks a lot like yours from one certain movie with the initials LOTR. Ring a bell? |

Very nice, the studless uneven surface provides a great cave-like feel. I'm really enjoying this series :) |

WOW! I just picked up on this series SN. I wish I would have seen it earlier. Top notch work here, really. You took it to that next level (which seems to be a pretty frequent occurrence round these parts). I think I need to get some of those LEDs for my own collection, how cool are those? I mean, can you imagine what I could do with XANADU alone!?!?! |

Aww... Only one more chapter left? Ah well. Still, I'm surprised how fast you posted this one compared to the time it for the other ones.
Good day |
