Entry for Jon Palmer's P-38 Lightning Space Contest
About this creation

This starfighter was my entry for Jon Palmer's P-38 Lightning Space Contest . The idea was to design a starfighter that retained the design qualities of the WW-II era fighter . Although my entry was not a winner, I liked the way I transferred the P-38's design into my starfighter.

Like the original P-38, my starfighter features a centerline cockpit pod, twin fuselage, and intersecting horizontal stabilizer. However, in place of the propeller engines are the laser cannons and I integrated the engines into the horizontal stabilizer. Also, for added flair, I added wingtip mounted missiles.

A head-on view, offering a better look at the cockpit section.

Underside view. Note the targeting scanner underneath the cockpit, with landing thruster behind. The stickers on the engine section are from the Lego AT-TE set.

I like this back view because it captures the sleek, slender aspect of this starfighter.

I very much like it, jsut as the original. Though, I wouldn't feel very safe, having to land on high explosives, if you get my meaning... |

Very cool. You did a great job of creating a space-age version of the P-38 Lightning of World War II. |

Looks very swooshable. And you succcessfully resisted the urge to make the fins bigger than those of a '59 Caddy, too. |
