The Skunk Works 800
Nobody gonna take my car, I'm gonna race it to the ground... Nobody gonna beat my car, it's gonna break the speed of sound
About this creation
Car racing has got to be just about the stupidest thing on the face of the Earth. I mean, come on. What an unbelievable waste. All that gas and oil burned up so a bunch of cars can drive around in circles really fast for several hours. All those tires they go through in the course of a race. It's sickening when you stop and think about it.

I am not a car guy. I am, however, an American, and as such have a sort of helpless fascination with automobiles. Any junkie probably feels the same about his drug of choice. While I often think we'd be better off if we all went back to the horse and buggy, I won't be doing it myself until I'm forced to. I'm hooked, just like everyone else.

All right, enough preachiness. You see before you the finish of the famous Skunk Works 800. I figured if we're going to be wasteful, why stop at 400 or 500 miles?

So why have I built this when I think car racing sucks? Excellent question. I got some of those little racers sets on a buy one get one free, and was trying to make alternate models out of them. I don't know why, when I've proven to myself that I'm terrible at set alts, and these were so limited in pieces . It must have been temporary insanity.

So after failing hard at that, I broke into the collection and just made my own fleet of racers. Ah, much better. I liked them, but thought it would be pretty boring to just show the cars. Hence, the little dio here.

I think these racers may be driven by cyborgs and named after songs... as if your poor Halo-rotted little brain didn't have enough trouble trying to tell me and Other Shannon apart, I'll blur the line a little further.

The grandstands effect works much better when viewed from a distance, or from the thumbnails rather than the full-sized image. Also, you will notice no protective fencing between the crowd and the track. I feel that if you're dumb enough to attend a car race, you deserve to get hit with any flaming wreckage that comes flying your way.

I hope you enjoyed your day at the races, and remember: Jesus may love you, but Mother Earth wishes you'd never been born.

The fact that people are entertained by this makes me want to make a television show about someone who eats a submarine sandwich every day, and the climax of each episode would be when the guy gets indigestion somewhere embarrassing. Sure would beat Nascar.

Uh, I know what you mean. Almost every Saturday, I turn onto ITV 1, and it's the flippin grand pre, or some other bunch of *CENSORED*. Ya' know, I think we should stop trying to destroy Halo Mocs, but we should instead concentrate on a new enemy. F1 racing. It's killing the world! Still, excellent little vig - Callum

Very nice! The crowd is great, and the cars are better! I love the silver one the best, but the red one comes in a close second.

Nice race set! My favorite is the gray car, and I liked how your all white car was constructed. Nice job on the crowd as well. Great work!!

Nice MOC! Just if your wondering my favorite car is the white one with the blue stripe. So when is the next Cyborg-Racer ship going to be coming out, Ocean? Just kidding! I too don't understand this sport, all I know that it is a big hit with the South. I too am an American and I think we should just stick with Baseball, Football, Soccer, and the Olympics (well every other sport that doesn't race <and track> can be allowed.) Rember kids! Do your racing on the streets!

Ya know, we just had the Indy 500 here in town last week. Everybody else comes to town...I LEAVE! By the way, let's not forget all of the trash that inevitably gets left behind - a beautiful sight, I'm tellin' ya. Much nicer, however, is this MOC! Great depth illusion there with the stands, and the cars have a sense of consistency while each maintains it's own identity. Just a clean and well designed creation all around. Nice one, Shan!

Then again, I can see how a bunch of shiney cars going fast in a circle can be entertainment to some people. But if you ever start getting chased by a race car driver, just turn right.

Wait... which one are you? Oh right, you did Phipbot! AND ANOTHER THING... Love the cars. Never been a race fan either. I just can't understand how driving in circles can be fun? I guess when you have the I.Q. of a warm glass of water and your girlfriend/sister is waiting in the pit area... Later ~ Chris.

Great dio, I especially like the little 1x1 plates as people. It looks like the little racing game people in an old 8 bit NES game. I'm totally with you on the car racing bit. "Hey, lets watch skilled people waste their lives burning thousands of gallons of fuel driving around a track, and lets use thousands more dollars televising the whole thing, so more people can sit on their couches watching TV instead of helping to repair the environment we're destroying by starting these races in the first place"

Oh the blue and white one is GEORGEOUS! I think I'm in love with it. Great cars and great commentry as always(duh). Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go and check up on the MOCtag game I'm running....haha!

I second that. Its got to be the most boring thing to watch on tv ever. The only excitement is crashes and you don't need 500+ laps for that. I'd prefer if they did one lap with half the cars facing one way while the other faced the opposite way. Quick race and a guarenteed crash at the end. Oh, I like the racers.
