A random fighter inspired by the Wraith from Starcraft.
About this creation
Suffice to say, this creation came out of bored whim, though I think the result was kinda cool. The funny thing is that the entire fighter was built for and around the pilot himself. I guess B-wing pilots with A-wing fighter helmets (or headsets?) look kinda cool in the cockpit.
The VX-54 Voodoo features 16 missiles (white), 8 torpedoes (gray), and two drop bombs (white and red). In addition to its heavy missile ordinance, it is armed with 5 laser cannons, three mounted on the wingtips and two smaller ones mounted on either side of the cockpit. It also has 6 flare pods in the back to ward off enemy missile locks. Lastly, it features two engines with exhaust ruddering and two afterburner boosters right underneath the cockpit in front of the underside wing. Despite its weak stealth abilities, it proves itself as a dangerous air/space superiority fighter with a higher-than average speed.
For some reason, I believe this fighter would be great for low strafing runs on ground targets. Perhaps it's the cannon mounted on its lower wingtip?
The Voodoo's missile/torpedo/bomb ordinance. Whites are missiles, grays are torpedoes, and the big fat ones are bombs. Suffice to say, I'm not going to spend my time making up specialized functions for each or whether there really is any difference between a space missile and a space torpedo.
The engines do feature exhaust ruddering or whatever it's called.
The 6 flare pods on the back underside of the craft.
The pilot is nice and cozy in his cockpit.
The gray minifig hands on the seat are supposed to be bars to keep the pilot's neck from snapping in two while performing manuevers or participating in rough dogfights.
And of course you know I always need to end a photo presentation with a nice overall shot. ;)
It's all awesome! Though you might want to decrease the missles/torpedos count. I love the engines but they should be larger. I really like ships that have that special 3-wing style or something close to that.
