Platform was designed to be a verry low and stealth robot. I have builded it uspide down on a baseplate and in front I added 4 smaller baseplates at an angle to form a wedge. The middle upper plate from the wedge had an open/close mecanism (using a small motor). When it was open, the robot was in search mode, using it's Dual IR Proximity Detection sensor to detect the enemy. When the enemy was centered, the robot was going in attack mode, closing the hatch to protect the sensor (many times during testing, the other robots that I had were going up the wedge disconnecting the DIRPD sensor). Unfortunately, because of weigh limit, I had to remove the open/close mechanism and fix the hatch open and of course, during the battle the other robot disconnected the sensor...

Platform II is the next version of this robot. This time I have used a different wedge and an Ultrasonic Range Sensor to find the enemy. I mounted the DIRPD sensor in front of it just in case that the URS won't work against a robot that was using the same sensor. It worked better than the first version, but had a problem detecting the edge on a ring that was too bright lit.

Both versions were using 2 light sensors for edge detection and 4 motors with the formula 1 wheels from the RIS kit.
