Over spring break, my family and I went to Florida. While I was there, I happened upon a lego store with an extravagant pick-a-brick section. Digging deep into the bowels of my wallet, I supplied myself with enough uncommon red slopes to last a lifetime.
About this creation
First a bit on the name. Wolfram is the german name for the element Tungsten, the most heat resistant metal known to man. As soon as I saw the name, I knew it had to be in the name of this ship. Coincidentally, Tungsten is also the material MAC gun ammo is made out of in the Halo novels and in my fictional universe. The name Hammer comes from the two hammer-head shaped bridges from which the ship is controlled. either bridge can have independent control over the ship's movement. Usually, one will pilot the ship, and the other will take command of the weapons systems.
The Lancer space pirates are a group of rebels that has since grown into, in a sense, an army. They believe that the military has too much control in the government of most systems, and uses this excuse to justify their destruction of any government or military ship in their path, and loot it for all its worth. The lancer pirates are led by self proclaimed Captain Ross J. Antony. Not much is known about the captain's past, only that, ever since the military forces of Octavius 4 attacked and took over his planet, killing his parents in the process, he has hated the military and done anything he can to get in their way, and to free as many planets as he can. Ross rules over his ship with an iron fist, often taking control of the ship himself if his orders are not met. He is also well known for using exceedingly deadly tactics to survive. It is said that he once released 200 fighters from the hanger of the Wolfram Hammer, just to distract five destroyers so he could escape, leaving the pilots of the fighters to die. But that's just an exaggeration, right.....
The rear view of the ship. The grey section in the middle of the ship is actually a modification to the ship, made shortly after the ship itself was stolen. What, you think this guy's rich enough to BUY this ship? Money doesn't grow on trees!
Here are the hammer heads of the ship, most of the smaller turrets and other weapons are mounted on top. The hammer heads are also very good for ramming in to smaller ships, a tactic well tested by Ross.
This is the only reason the Wolfram hasn't been destroyed yet, the unstoppable wave motion cannon. The gun fires a high intensity laser beam, with a range of up to 10 miles. However, the beam's width is only 3 feet, meaning that the gun must be perfectly aimed for fuel cells or the command bridge on a ship before it fires. If the shot is true, the beam is capable of burning through most modern shields, and up to 16 feet of titanium, the most commonly used ship armor.
This is the weapons platform and hangar stations. Ship to ship fighters are stored in the two, grey rectangular hangars, and 2 dual mount autocannons, long-range turrets only a step beneath MAC guns, but with a considerably higher rate of fire. The advantage of these guns is that the fire metallic rounds, instead of beams, so they can bypass common energy shields.
And heres the engine. Ross's engineers refitted the energy output system, for a piloting experienced base more on flying fast and straight. But every ship needs to steer, so two burst-fire engines were mounted on either side of the engine module. Each engine can fire a powerful burst, capable of rotating the ship. Getting bored of my incessant rambling? Good, cause we're done here. :-)
