How Blondel found his king Lionheart and how he saved him.
About this creation
Richard Lionheart shouldn’t have offended King Leopold V of Austria during the third Crusade when he dragged the Austrian banner through the mud. Returning from the crusade King Leopold arrested Lionheart, who disguised was trying to pass Austria on his route back to England. Now he was imprisoned at Dürnstein and at the behest of the Emperor brought to Castle Trifels where he was held for randsom. The Emperor nearly got excommunicated by the pope for holding King Lionheart for randsom. The loyal minstrel Blondel in search of his king marched from one castle to the other singing the first verse of the song only he and his King knew. Finally he heard Richard’s voice singing the second verse. “Oh Richard, my King”, Blondel found Lionheart. Blondel went away and soon came back with a horde of 50 soldiers and rescued Richard Lionheart.
The moc was built for the legends category at CCCV and shows Blondel singing below the window where Lionheart is kept imprisoned. At dawn there is not much going on around the castle. Only some rats and frogs starring around. King Richard was not kept in the dungeons but in a nice room. This was not unusual when kings were held imprisoned in medieval times. The moc didn’t win anything, but I still like it. Hope you like it too.
Wow! I'm very impressed by the level of detail. The sunflowers as an example are pure genious! The slit windows are also looking awesome. Moreover, the whole MOC is so well architectured! I wish I'll be able to do half as good as you one day!
