Helping to exploit the universe one planet at a time....
About this creation
LIU Explorer Vessel - (EV)
The Ludgonian Industrial Union is proud to present our newest and largest dropship, the Explorer Vessel. Expand your knowledge of your home systems or explore new planets, buy one today!
The massive Explorer Vessel has all the things you need (and some you don't) to explore the universe. Discover profitable worlds, study your finds, and begin the colonization process.
The EV's three decks contain labs, housing, and storage areas. The EV is self-contained and can go without re-supplying for several years.
Fun Fact #1: The EV recycles waste water, food, and toilet paper so they can be used over and over again.
There's a lot to see in this side view. 1. The EV has lots of windows to cut down on white blindness. 2. The eight side engines (four shown here) to allow the EV to have VTOL capabilities. 3. The EV's two doors(lower right, shown closed) and 4. We are running out of pure white bricks and are having to dip into the yellowing aged ones....ahhhh!
Large engines allow the EV to travel quickly, but efficiently. Note the greebs under the engines. They do stuff...we think...Fun Fact #2: Maybe they are just for decoration...ever think about that?
Some of the EV's roof mounted instrumentation, like the wind speedometer, radar, etc....
Here's an overview of the first deck. Its divided into two sections. Fun Fact #3: Making the first deck smaller than the upper decks reduces the amount of the ship that must come in contact with the ground, keeping your ship squeeky clean.
Both sides of the first deck have small garages. This garage holds a small all terrain truck.
Very little time went in to making this background moc, so ignore it. Anyway, the truck is used to get around on the planet once the EV has landed. Materials can be collected in the truck's bed and can be carried back to the EV for study.
Next to the truck garage is the EV's fuel room. The EV doesn't need fuel itself (it's powered with a fusion reactor), but the EV's ground vehicles do. Here, the EV's vehicles fuel up.
Next to the fuel room is the geology lab. An overview is shown here.
Here is the geology lab's closet. All the tools needed to find and dig up rocks and soil samples can be found here. Fun Fact #4: Losing tools when you are light years away from a store is not a good idea. Keep inventory often.
The actual lab is shown here. Scanners and X-ray machines allow your scientists to study the planet's make-up. Hmm...this planet uses eye liner.
The last room in the geology lab is the storage room. Samples of rare or interesting rocks are kept here for further study.
The other side of the first deck also has a small garage. Smaller vehicles are stored in here, like a three-wheeler and two LIU exo-suits.
A LIU Exo-Suit Loader is a must. Use it to load collected samples or move supplies around the ship. You wouldn't want to hurt your back.
A small mechanic shop sits next to the garage. All the vehicles are fixed and maintained here. Fun Fact #5: There are no Jiffy Lubes on unexplored planets. At least the ones that we have encountered.
A supply room for the mechanics. "Hey, what wench used my wrench!!!"
A small sick bay for injured or sick soldiers. White blindess is the most commonly treated ailment. Doc: "Just don't look at anything white for few days." Blind man: "How the heck can I do that, I'm on a LIU ship.
The last room on the first deck is the security center. You never know what you might encounter on an unexplored world. In fact, you never know what your crew will do when confined to whiteness for extended periods.
There are four labs and four living areas on the second deck.
The first lab is the EV's Physics Lab. Here, they study the planet's size, gravity, mass, orbit, as well as its position in relation to the sun. Its all figured out by these two nerds and their fancy computers.
Fun Fact #6: Don't ask us how they do it. This level of physics is way over our head.
More security walking the halls....(Why did I include this? Who knows?)
Here's the plant biology lab. Newly discovered plants are grown and studied here.
Fun Fact #7: The lab utilizes technology developed by the LIU Green Center. Check it out in our Infrastructure Folder.
Here's the geography lab. Here, they map the planet, study its various terrains, and monitor its weather.
Fun Fact #8: Ludgonia is the capital city and homeworld of the LIU.
The last lab on the EV is the biology lab. Various creatures are studied here.
Today, these scientists are studying the effects of radiation on this captured amphibian.
A small break room allows the crew to sit, rest, and mingle. Fun Fact #9: This native snuck on board several planets ago. According to LIU protocol, the crew is not allowed to interact with any primitive beings on the planets they explore. Although, Tina the Octan girl likes to feed him pizza crusts.
The kitchen. Nothing new. Some pots, pans, and a dirty chef...
The EV's small bathroom. One shower stall, one toilet, and one sink support the whole crew. Fun Fact #10: Some pretty nasty fights occur here on a regular basis.
"Dude! The stall is only two bricks wide! What?!? What do you mean I have to take my %@#$*^@ arms off!! This bathroom sucks!"
Four beds and some chairs allow the crew to catch some sleep. Closets store some fresh sheets. Johnny had too much soda before bed...
An overview of the third deck, which is actually just the EV's pilot house.
The captain and three officers pilot the EV from the left side...
....while the Head Engineer and his officers work from the right side.
The captain, his 46 member crew, and one primitive stowaway pose for photo.
Note: The EV could be used as a military dropship. Load the lower deck with tanks and keep hundreds of men on the second deck. Hmm...come to think of it, that would have been a better idea.
Wow. I'm impressed. But why do you have a map of planet Earth on one of the computer screens? Why didn't the crew give that stowaway some decent clothes to cover up her @#&*%!. Over all, however, it's pretty decent. I especially love the crew photo. Man, I can't imagine the size of the hangars that house these babies . . .

Nice ship, where is the engine room? It looks like you have a bridge station but no big fusion reactor core or engine room. And it appears to lack a means of getting from deck to deck. A dropship version would be fantastic...

dude I love this thing. I like the design with the catamaran-like first deck.
speaking of decks: how the heck do they get from one deck to another? there's no elevator or stairs or stuff? some secret LIU device?
Spilurus says good day to the LIU. Don't you think the Milky Way is um... milky enough already? And I don't suppose crew members are allowed to paint their quarters. Out of interest how many people build for the LIU, many or just one? Anyway, the Explorer Vessel is an ultra-impressive creation, deserving of many more happy faces.
So according to the LIU protocol, the crew just has to pretend that the native stowaway isn't even there? He's just given free reign to wander about the Explorer Vessel as he pleases, while simultaneously being completely ignored?
Well, this has got to be my new favorite among all of your brilliant creations. Recycled toilet paper and removal of your arms to get into the stall...now that's realism! Fun fact: I recently purchased UV/UVB protective sun glasses to allow for viewing of all LIU vessels. "The LIU's so bright...I gotta wear shades."
Uh, Stan... The Milky Way has just a few more... Never mind, I'm sure he'll figure it out. Any way, Your Highness, Brilliant as always, and I'm not just talking about the glare off this beauty. Speaking of which, with only one bathroom it's no wonder the bricks are starting to "yellow". Later ~ Chris.
Nice. I will probally take 8 of them. This for exploring the 8 planets in the Milky Way. Plus one for special boardings on the LIU home planet. For updates my BIG ship is going to come soon... A question: Do you have all your creations at once? Or do you take them apart? Well, please awnser. As for me I think I am suffering from white blindness. Now please excuse me as I stare at the corner in my all black room.
My FAVOURITE of yours so far your Highness! Huge white boxyness + fun facts = radness. Hey, there could be a small room on the ship that's all black where the crew can go sometimes for a break from white! "Ahhhh, thank Chr*st!" :D
I may have to buy one... it's just what I wanted my unfinished Tetricus to be, only white. And we need to know more about the chick who appears to be topless in the group photo. Fun fact: I really did have white blindness once, but the story is not suitable for children.
