Power Armor Mercenary Team
Powered suit mercenary team
About this creation
I made a bunch of variations on my original power suit design, to form a mercenary team with different specialties. I had so much fun with it, and then I read Heinlein's "Starship Troopers" (despite being published in 1959, I can easily imagine some of the latest Lego power suit and starship designs in the battle scenes) and I got really psyched up about power suits.

I varied the color schemes partly for fun, and partly as an homage to the Cyclone suits in the third Robotech saga. I even got carried away and came up with a backstory, which I usually don't do.

The Roughnecks, a five-person armored team of former elite Mobile Infantry, now available for hire.

We can handle all your combat needs; xenomorphs (bugs), pirates, claim jumpers, saboteurs, even up to a heavy 'mech lance; you want it, you got it.

Roger, the leader of the Roughnecks. A brilliant tactician/diplomat/businessman, he negotiates all the contracts, plans all the ops, leads the team in the field, manages to keep out of trouble with the major powers, gets everybody back alive, and gets paid--none of them easy tasks.

Roger hates when people make radio jokes (Roger, Roger, etc.). He prefers multiple-ordnance launchers as his auxilliary weapon, so he can configure the loadout according to mission requirements.

Vlad provides the big-punch firepower for the team, sporting a pair of heavy missile launchers on the arms of his power armor.

Vlad taxes the limits of his armor, carrying the maximum weapons payload and two pulse laser rifles, he must practice intense physical training to deal with the feedback stresses.

All that weight limits his mobility, but Vlad can do a lot of damage. A huge football fan, he is also the medic and trainer for the team.

"Doc" is the team's electronic warfare expert, managing ECM, communications and battlefield intelligence.

Doc is also the team's sniper and a crack shot, partly the result of his addiction to video games. He's the oldest of the group, but seems to have the most youthful attitude.

Doc's suit carries extra com and ECM gear, plus a directional electro-magnetic pulse generator (EM pulse)--a one-shot weapon used as a last resort. You better be standing behind Doc when it goes off, or your electronics will fry. Does nothing against bugs, though.

   Maya...

...and Sonya, the two female members of the team, are former gymnasts. Their acrobatic talents, coupled with the extrordinary manueverability of the power suits, makes them extremely deadly and nearly impossible to hit.

All the suits have jump-jets mounted in the feet, but Maya's and Sonya's suits have additional thrusters to permit extreme aerial acrobatics.

Sonya often acts as a diversion, blasting in, lasers blazing, and causing a ruckus while the rest of the team wreaks havoc nearby. She's so hard to hit, she always gets away clean.

Maya is the quieter one of the pair, using her agility for stealth, firing tiny, silent, invisible slugs from her magnetic mass drivers.

Maya and Sonya use arm-mounted weapons instead of carrying pulse laser rifles so their hands are free for hand-to-hand combat and acrobatic moves like this one-arm handstand.

   You get the idea...

I like Doc's and Vlad's color schemes, but I had no choice but to introduce some light gray, because I only have black and light gray UFO helmets.

I had a lot of fun building these, and I hope you enjoyed looking at them. If you haven't read "Starship Troopers", I recommend it, it's an interesting read.

man, I love this mechs! I love mechs but specially the tiny ones, dunno why. I had a cool idea: you give everyone the instructions, but not to make an specific mech like vlad´s or maya´s, just the main body structure, which I think is the same in all five, and let people make one for themselves, all with a diferent armor, and when they put them in mocpages, they would give credit to you if you want... this way the power armor mercenary team will be bigger and bigger and bigger!!!! if you like the idea please send me the instructions, if its possible the ones from maya or sonya, i would like mine to have those arm mounted weapons... and... thanks

These are some of the coolest little MOC's I've seen in a while. Very fun to view, I was so intrigued I checked out almost every pic. I especially like the way the shoulder joints are made, assuming that I've got the right idea. Jumper plates with the stud into a technic 2l beam? I really like that idea. These really blew me away.
