A clever little device that can be used in many ways.
About this creation
Okay, here's something quick and innovative! The other day I was playing with my little Tokyo Marui Abrams tank. It has a varitey of controls including a vast range of turret movements. Now, this is how I was inspired. When the button for the turret cannon to move up and down is pushed, the turret will raise and lower once. As the button is held down, the turret cannon would continue to raise and lower. I though, hunh, that seemed odd that the it would have a continuous movement. Most RC type tanks have one up and one down button (I'm very observative) that control the cannon's movement. The Lego version of this was actually and accident. One day I was messing around with some random technic parts. I connected these couple pieces out of curiosity and was amazed that when the wheel is turned, it had the same effect as the cannon! As you rotate the wheel, the silver bar will move up and down several degrees. As long as the wheel is turning, the silver bar will continue to move up and down! Truly a breakthrough in new types of Lego movement!!!! This is the bar at it's highest peak. I'm not sure if this is the only machine like it on MOCpages. If not please let me know. Otherwise, this is MY idea!
The bar at it's lowest peak. Since the bar is smooth on it's flat end, the wheel won't get caught and thus the bar can be lowered as far is it can go. I've also thought of the different applications that this system can be used in. The biggest ideas that came to me first were a gun turret, flapping wings, a raising an lowering platform, snapping jaws and even a small part of a more complex machanical creation. Naturally, there are many, MANY more uses for this. Most will be discovered be people who use this design. I will allow ALL MOCpages users to use this, but PLEASE give me credit!!!!!!
Skeptical that it won't work? Build it yourself! It's really simple!! All you need to do is connect the curved black bar to one of the four holes in the black wheel. Note, you CAN'T modify it the way it is. Not in the sense that you can't make it smaller, but that the connecting rods are specifically placed in those positions and can't be moved. Otherwise the machine can't function at maximum capacity! Besides that, it's a relativly simple build!
Once again, you can use this design, just pls give me credit.
Thanks for taking time to look at this!
In response to EVO Vampire: This is the completed system. It just needs to be included in a creation. This is just so people can build it and put it to use.
Now I heard that I invented a "Crank". That in itself is comical to me. You see, it isn't a crank at all. Though for someone who believes that it IS a crank, it'll be a little harder for me to explain how it works. Just build it yourself, you'll see what it really does...

Duhhhhh. Many machines in the world have that same mechanics. The wheel turns and it goes up and down. Not a big discovery. They started using that in the 1800s with cannons and you just figured that out? |

You might better know me as Jake J. (above)I have changed my site and my name is now Jax Vendetta. So delete the one I previously wrote and keep this one. It's good just not groundbreaking, id like to see it in a model though. |

It's been done before worldwide for nearly a century! Ever heard of James Watt? That mechanism has been used on trains all over the place! Put it into a giant tank, then I'll be happy.
:( that was my first negative review ever. ugh! sorry mate. |

This idea is very hard to replicate in Legos. I know because I have tried for some things awhile back. However I am surprised at the fact that you think that you were the first person to see this "revolutionary" idea. But otherwise I would like you to put it in a creation, maybe Halo? Keep Building! |

I believe that you should publish it only when there was really finished |

I like your sense of inovation. But to tell you the truth, you just invented the crank... its a pretty basic machine. The same type of principle goes into a car's pistons, except power is applied to the beam, not the wheel... sorta. This is relitivly funny for me! |
