Australian Road Train
This is my version of an Australian Road Train, consisting of a huge, 6-to-8-stud-wide, fully equipped and heavily tanked rough terrain semi truck pulling three tanker trailers: 1. A medium-length semi-trailer with an integrated, pressure controlled gas pump system and various valves on its sides, back and top. 2. Two interconnected drawbar Road Train trailers, each one transporting a loadable cargo gas tank which can be lifted by forklifts and cranes (Please check out my "Gas/Fuel Tank" creation as well.). The Road Train is quite old and is part of a small collection of a few digitalized slides of some of my former Lego creations. That is why the quality of the photos isn´t as high as in ordinary digital pictures. Anyways, I thought I´d share them little by little:)... Key words: Huge Truck truck Semi semi Australian Road Train road train drawbar trailer drawbar trailers interconnected heavy duty rough terrain tanker tank tanks cargo loadable pressure controlled pump sytem valves valve axle axles replacement tire steel bars lighting semi-trailer
About this creation
Check out the total length of the massive traction engine and its three trailers, and how they are interconnected. I really enjoyed building all the details such as the integration of a replacement tire for the semi, its steel bar protections, the lighting of both the hauler and the trailers, the pump system on the semi-trailer and, of course, the transportable gas tanks and many more things. It was a lot of fun:).

Here is a front-side view of the 9-axle vehicle, showing well the nose of the semi which a couple of years later also became the nose of my more recent "Heavy Hauler":

And a rear-side view is all I can provide as pictures... My collection of Lego slides contains about 55 photos. Sadly, I didn´t know I´d ever need much pictures of older creations. I wish I would have some of my last, pretty big and cool town layout:( But I forgot to do that, and it was before I got a digi cam... In the following picture though, you can see the two big valves at the back of the semi trailer:

G-Day! Steffen!!! I would like to say that your Road Train looks quite good. Second and third trailer are a bit out of proportion, they could be done a bigger perhaps in order to take advantage of the space on the trailer and distance they have to travel

Hello Steffen, Very impressive & original your Australian Road Train! Nice details which are clearly visible (despite the photo quality (:->). Question: Is it a fantasy creation or based on excisting road trains? In the 2nd case: It would be nice to show also pictures of real road trains if available.

hi,(all this is coming from an aussie who loves and sees trucks everyday) loving the truck and the lead trailer but the draw bar trailers are not really wat we hook up to road trains over here. The normal set up are b doubles, not to say out west when they want a trailer moved theyll do it any way they can, great work on the truck and nice work on the bonnet area. Id love to for some plans for the prime mover

Thanks for the great review! I like this one a lot. I have always liked the road trains, just thought it was a cool concept: hooking up like 5 trailers to one tractor. Nice job!

Uncommon vehicle, very nicely done ! It could be an official set. PS thanks for your review ! To answer you, I got a lot of lego, but not so much - What's important is what you do with it, anyway, and you use your parts very well !
