Wow! This is a beautiful representation of one the great mosques. I echo the wishes of others: are the plans available? There are so few MOCs of mosque architecture.

I've seen the sun rise and illuminate this dome. You sir have done a wondeful job of capturing it. I certainly hope to see architecture like the Dome of the Rock in heaven.

24 hours ago I hadn't even heard of Arthur. Last night I did a Google search for Lego Burj Al Arab and this led me to this forum. A few hours later Arthur has become my hero. The guy's a genius and this Jerusalem landmark is simply stunning like most of Arthur's other work. I just can't stop admiring Arthur's work. Amazing!

Quoting Iwona Czyzewska It is truly amazing!!! As a matter of fact I would like to ask you ,Arthur if it's possible to purchase one set of it? I have been looking everywhere for a Lego mosque , as a present for a friend of mine, who is also a huge Lego fan. Unfortunately with no luck...I would appreciate if you send me any links. Keep up a great work, I love all your creations...
Iwona, Please contact me at arthur@gugick.com so we can discuss this further. Thanks

Beautiful work Arthur! You definitely deserve MoTD and more! I'm surprised this one has such low ratings, considering the beauty and scale of the work. Some people just wouldn't know a fantastic build if it smacked 'em in the head.

I've been asked a number of times if I'm Muslim. Does it really matter? Perhaps I am Muslim. Perhaps I'm Christian. Perhaps Jewish, etc. For me, Lego Art should transcend one's personal belief system. I've built landmarks from across the world: mosques, churches, basilicas, and temples looking only at the beauty, elegance, and complexity of the structure. It was the same for this landmark. It truly is a magnificent building. When I originally posted this Moc in 2008 it received some ignorant bigoted comments (which I deleted). Thank you all in advance for your positive comments. Arthur

Now this is what MOCD is about! Learning about this in my Art History class, I can see you have perfected some of the intricate details of the exterior of the structure. I really enjoyed the flowers and all of the little details. This is a very RARE MOC in which everything is almost perfect. My favorite MOC this year so far. Mind blowing work, 9.5/10. -Dylan

I think Mr. Young might have a point. People like that tick me off. You know I build stuff like this all the time. I'm just too good to share it with you people... that's right! I said it! (but I don't mean a word of it) As I stated on your other build, you have humbled me. Most of us on this site are "Builders", but you sir, are an artist. Thank you ~ chris.

Oooooh, nice! The dome is beautiful. The lower half of the building and the ground seem awfully colorful though, compared to the real thing. But maybe you were trying to depict a past version, before some historical renovation or vandalism removed it of its original glory? Either way, it looks great. May I humbly cast a vote for the Hagia Sophia next? Heheh.

This MOC is up to your usual high standards but has a suspiciously low overall rating as I come upon it (many votes, few reviews) and I wonder why... Is it because it depicts a Muslim holy site? Could it be there are a bunch of Islamophobes out there giving it low marks based solely on that fact? I hope I'm just being overly cynical. I sincerely hope I'm wrong. But I doubt it.
