BCRR Union Station, built over the course of a month.
About this creation
BCRR (Brickapolis Central Railroad) now has a "real" train station to stop at. The station took a awhile to build because of the brainstorming I had to do, to come up with the design. Leave any comments or suggestions below if you wish.
Quite an interesting and clever design! I really like the innovative features you have come up with: The heart-shaped glass roof, the general SNOT use of framless windows and of course the awesome shelter roof on the platform. Very good and clever ideas. Two suggestions only: 1. The wooden door: maybe replace it with glass doors if you can - it would just match tons better here. If your puropse was to work with strong contrasts (wood:glass/traditional:modern architecture), it would be okay but thereīd need to be more of these contrasts. But your focus seemed to be on modern architecture. 2. The side of the big roof: The little glass windows donīt really seem to fit there. Could you use more smaller glass pieces and make something interesting out of it? For example: a pyramid of 2 bricks long and one bricks high glass pieces (often used in cars etc.), these interrupted by "1-bricks" - and all that growing with and along the awesome roof? That might be cool... To your Downtown layout: very nice, too. Love the big glass fronts of the multi storey buildings. Best regards, Steffen
That is a sweet station! The Bricktopia-ish design really catches the eye, especially the roof (dome?).
I'm not sure how you've constructed the tip of the roof, though. But I'd advise that you use 1x1 bricks with studs on all four sides; that will allow you to use tiles instead of plates turned up-side-down. It will also allow you to decorate the edges with a clock or some other station-relevant gadget/decoration.
