After the liberation of the planet Praxis IV from PCS forces, the High Command determined that a more active support system was needed to prevent the needless loss of valuable troop transports such as the Ka-95 Sokolica. The result was a high energy weapon dubbed the "Tick" for its resemblance to the small and annoying insect.
The need to clear entrenched forces was the primary motive behind the creation of the Tick. With a sustained firing rate of 35 second at 8 feet per second, the Tick is capable of taking out all but the deepest bunkers and fortifications.
To insure survival of its crew, the Tick is made up of two components- the main weapon and the crew's quarters. With such a high powered weapon, its was felt that safety should be a top concern.
You'll notice there is no landing gear. This isn't a shuttle and is only going to land if its shot down. Repulser drives ensure that this isn't a Flight 800.
"Fleet Komandant Bounty, that big red button fires the gun. After that, there's just a hole in the planet. It can also be used to create a wonderful golf course; 18 holes in 30 minutes!"
