About this creation
The planet Xyden-3 was first populated by Terran colonists looking to start anew on this earthlike planet. Things were fine for hundreds of years. But humans being what they are, eventually war broke out between the peoples of two neighboring regions.
The two countries were separated by an enormous, high rugged chain of mountains. Along this border, one of the countries deployed their Autonomous Arachnotype Anti Aircraft Array (5A for short), made up of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of eight-legged drones, to keep enemy fighters at bay.
The other side developed a biological weapon so effective that it completely wiped out the enemy -- along with every other human on the planet, including themselves. Oops.
The 5As were equipped with small fusion cores that would, in theory, keep each unit operational for centuries. They were of course never intended to remain in service this long, but it was a cheap, effective power source that wouldn't need constant recharging.
Instead of being decommissioned as they should have been, the 5A units remained in their mountains, fighting a forgotten war that receded further and further into the mists of the past. After so much time with no action, the rudimentary Artificial Intelligence the 5As were equipped with began to go a little buggy.
With no enemy aircraft to shoot down, the 5As began to hunt the "dragons," as the colonists had called them -- the harmless plant-eating flying reptile-like creatures indigenous to the area.
When they'd killed off or run off all the dragons, most began to turn on anything that moved, in the air or on land. The mountains became a barren wasteland as the animal life fled or was slaughtered.
Once they'd driven off all other available targets, some 5A units that were further gone than the others went rogue -- they began destroying their own kind.
Before, they'd operated as a sort of hive-mind -- but when those few went effectively psychotic, others had to strike out on their own as well in order to survive. A 5A unit still loyal to its original programming, unable to fire on a fellow 5A, was an easy target.
These units were quickly eliminated. The surviving rogue 5As remained to stalk the mountains relentlessly, each one hunting the others. This went on for a long, long time... eventually one lone rogue 5A was left standing. It was doomed to wander alone for an even longer time.
Eventually, human colonists rediscovered and resettled Xyden-3. A group of explorers in those rugged mountains were startled one day to come upon this last vestige of an extinct civilization. After all that time alone, we may imagine that the rogue 5A was, in its way, surprised as well. But one main directive in its frazzled memory banks was still clear -- it was designed to kill.
The rogue 5A wiped them out. A search party was sent after the missing group, only to disappear as well. The worried colonists in the lowlands could only guess at what dangers lurked in those mountains...

Love the mech. Amazing story line. Is it from a book?
I also think you should make a "dragon" like in the story. |

If I ever earn the favour of a publisher, then I will make sure it is directed your way. Nice build and an even better story. Lee. |

Impressive looking weapon to have in your army’s arsenal. The eight legs concept is very cool and overall design is just fantastic. |

Here's my idea: replace the printed tiles on the front with a 2x2 dish with a 1x1 round plate on it (or not) to make it look like it has one big eye. That might look cool. |

There's an art to creating simple MOC's and this one certainly qualifies as a winner! Nicely done. Your stories always catch my imagination and I constantly find myself visualizing other mocs or additional stories to go with your posts...a sign of captivating story telling. Thanks for another gem. |
