Psychotron upgrade
Putting the psycho in Psychotron!
About this creation
Cyborg Race-ship "Psychotron" has undergone an upgrade,
an 'evilisation procedure', if you will, following a
rather nasty "bump" with the Ceres asteroid, during
a race. With his old body a total write-off, he has
spared no expense in creating a new, faster and
downright sexier chassis. If you thought he had a
anti-social streak before, now he's really pi$$ed!

Employing a slim profile, he can deftly skim through
the narrowest of obstacles. And should any of
those "obstacles" (ie other Race-ships) get in his way,
he flips out his switchblade wings...

Build-wise, I wanted to make this craft to look
as sleek as possible (to look like it's moving just
standing still). I don't think I acheived that grandoise
plan, but I'm happy nonetheless. My favourite part is the
small serations along the sides, which as a theme,
I tried to incorporate elsewhere on the ship. I made
the light grey version first, but looked a bit dull,
so a visit to Bricklink was in order
(thanks Bricks of Distinction!) Was Lee Jones'
Demon Coleoidea an inspiration for the colour scheme? Perhaps...
Structurally, something was lost in the transition
from lt. grey to black and the new version was a
bit weaker in places, so I needed to employ a touch
of 'Blu-Tac". There, I said it!
Go on, say it: "I cheated!"...

Old, pre-crash, design (painfully bad eh?)

New body design with the head in a bottle look, as seen on Futurama.

Evilisation complete.

At first, the step up in the tiles annoyed me and I was going to level it all out, but then I thought it kinda ramps up to Psychotron's head, like a dais.

Of all my racers so far, I think I've managed to blend the minifig head into the spaceship nicely here. The line between the human and the machine draws fainter...

I was going to fill the gaps in the sides with greebles or something when I noticed by accident the wings could swing in. Nice!

Testing out his new blades on Heartburn: "Ooopps!" *evil chuckle*

3 racers.

Landed for a press conference.

Give us a hug!

G'day Shannon! I checked out the Aussie slang website, and it's a ripper! My favorite had to be "the awning over the toy shop." Anyhow mate, back to your MOC. It's ace. I'd like to square up for all this piffle. I must sound like a real dill. :) Ooroo!

It certainly has the swooshable thing down pat. In addition, it has one of the best colour palettes I have ever seen :-). As for favourite elements - that would have to be the antenna off the back, and I have to agree that this is your best incorporation of the minifig element into the overall design. Lee.
