A first on MOCpages and quite possibly the entire Internet, the little-known Russian A-20 light tank!
About this creation
At some point I need to fix the way my iPhone causes these pics to be displayed sideways. Anyways, here is my first historical tank build posted to the 'Pages, the A-20 Russian light tank! Part of a series of prototypes which would eventually lead to the T-34, the A-20 was the second in that series, following the BT-IV, and leading to the A-32, T-32, and finally, the legendary T-34. This first shot is from the side. This tank, as most of my tanks will, uses the basic hull design from the Beauregard, but gives it that nice sloped armor on all sides. Also displayed are Panzer Commander and the all-new Panzer Crewman!
The front. The way I built the hull led to some troubles figuring out the machine-gun positioning but in the end I worked it out.
The other side of the A-20, not much changed from the other side.
The back, showing off the terrible turret I built to good effect.
"Stukas above! Look out!" An overhead view of my A-20.
The bottom, helping you to see how the suspension was made and where it goes on the tank.
In World of Tanks (wait what Jerry plays WoT? Yes I do in fact!) the A-20 is a Tier 4 light tank which leads to the Tier 5 medium tank T-34. I recently purchased the A-20 and still have it stock, but I am impressed with it despite the usual bad rap it gets. I succeed in it by adapting a great playstyle I first discovered in my Pom Pom-equipped Covenanter. The A-20 doesn't work too well as a scout tank, so sit back and let the battle rage for a while, then come up and pick off low-health enemies with your excellent ROF, and decent damage and penetration.
Building a World of Tanks tank was a first for me, but I'm planning to build every tank in my garage by getting pics of the tanks this week and building one or two at my mom's each weekend.
