Built For the Lands of Mythron
Rank Challenge - Nerogueian Commander
Two Weeks Before the Kings Assassination
"We had tracked the orcs across the country-side for days and days. Just as it seemed we were upon them, they had suddenly found new strength and increased their pace ahead of us. I pushed the men Darvainian had granted me harder and harder. Today was the day justice was to be served."
"I placed my head on the dry ground, listening for even the whisper of a foot-step."
Drazard: Nothing. They haven't moved for days... Either we've caught them out of breath or we've lost their trail entirely...
Drazard: Let's keep moving! Any sign of them is a step closer to the treasury!
"For a split second, it seemed every head was turned to the side. Like an invisible hand had gently turned our necks and we hadn't even thought twice about resisting."
"When we had turned our heads back again, it seemed like someone had cobbled together a shack while we had our attention diverted."
"No question about it, a shack which hadn't been there before, seemed to materialize in mere seconds."
"With the shack, had appeared a blue line, which I assumed to circle the whole thing. Suspecting trickery, or even magic, I stuck my sword over the line."
"No sooner had I done so than it vanished, disappearing first where I had held my sword over and circling around the shack. And no sooner had the line disappeared than a horde of orcs had appeared, seemingly waiting for us to leave."
"I held my sword up to the orc nearest me's throat and addressed Ivo."
Drazard: You know orcish Ivo, correct? Ask him his business here. "Ivo made a number of low noises which reminisced of someone with a sore throat."
"As Ivo finished his question the orc lost no time in knocking my sword away, and catching me off-balance. Fool! I shouldn't have let down my guard."
Drazard: Swords! But remember, Darvainian and the King Requested them alive! Deal as little harm as you can help!
"He delivered the first blow and I retaliated, starting my first battle in the command of soldiers."
Asher: Didn't your mummy tell you it was rude to kill strangers?
Gavin: We got more incoming!
"I rushed forward to engage another orc,"
"And as I did I received a smart blow to the jaw from a well swung Flail."
"Tumbling backwards, I dropped my shield,"
And all went blank in my mind.
The Entertainer: So sorry, did I get you wet?
The Entertainer: Allow me to dry you off!
A flame soars from the hand of the Entertainer, circling the three orcs nearest him.
Not long after they had been encircled they had been reduced to ash
The Entertainer: Now there's a good chap!
Ivo: Drazard! Drazard, wake up my brother!
Entertainer: Excuse me, I think I may know how to wake him.
"The Entertainer muttered an incantation and a short burst of flame shot into my chest, awaking me and an unexplainable surge of pain and anger as I had only felt once before."
"He let out a sigh of relief and spoke" Entertainer: You're very fortunate that worked, you know. Strictly speaking I shouldn't have been able to complete that bit of magic, as it is unique to your kind. I simply had to channel it to you, though even I was worried it wouldn't succeed. I-
"He was interrupted by a cry for help coming from inside the shack."
The Entertainer: Ah, that'll be Brom, my apprentice.
The Entertainer: All right there?
Brom: I tried to stop them master, I couldn't get the shield to fully form!
"He muttered another incantation, which this time disintegrated the rope binding Brom."
The Entertainer: I've read that's a handy spell Drazard, you'd do well to learn it!
Drazard: I may ask around. Are you sure the orcs are secure?
The Entertainer: I wouldn't bother too much about it.
I have to agree with what Brick said, but still, it's a decent build. It would be nice with more words per picture though (in other words, less pictures) to make the story seem more like a story and less like a ...long...comic
Quoting ~ Brick
This is nice, but not very progressive. Pretty much just basic techniques...and the story is somewhat minimal. Still, I have faith that as your activity begins to resurface so will your ingenuity! :)
Yeah, I've had this sitting around for months and I just wanted to get it posted. Thanks!
Quoting Prof. B.
I do agree with Brick about the simplicity of the build, but the exterior of the shack is pretty cool. Nice job!
As said, I just wanted to get it posted and be done with it. :P Thanks everyone!
