Carapace
About this creation
Galaxy Squad Intelligence File 001
Designation: Carapace
Arnament: Directed energy bioweaponry
Defenses: Silicon fiber exoskeleton
Propulsion: Unknown biological processes
Class: Starfighter equivalent
Species: Coccinella Aggresinus

Bug (Insecta Terminua) weaponry is not built, it's grown. The Carapace (Galaxy Squad designation) is essentially a spaceborne beetle surrounded by an enormous exoskeleton. The exoskeleton is the "starfighter" and the beetle (in larvae form), sits encased in 3-5 layers of bio-luminescent armor. The beetle controls its movements much like a human would control theirs. Inside the bio-luminescent shell, the larva floats in a nutrient dense liquid, which not only serves to nourish it, but also serves to transmit commands.

Like any insect, the Carapace will molt, becoming larger each time, as well as gaining a denser, more particle beam resistant exoskeleton. The Exoskeleton is resistant to most personnel grade weaponry, and depending on age, resistant to E and D class particle beam cannons. An "adult" Carapace is extremely hard to kill, usually requiring multiple Avengers/Nemesis starfighters or the arnament of a Valkyrie in extreme cases. The carapace has internal organs, the exact function of them being unknown at this time. It has been known to bleed and even pass out if given sufficient damage.
