KillShot
About this creation
Well, my first commissioned project is coming up, and I admit it, Iím stalling.

But the Small Starfighter Contest rages on, and I canít resist a good starfighter contest. Check it out here if youíd like to see all that have been entered so far. This is my second entry and I call it KillShot. I wanted this one to have more playability than the last, so I gave it an attack mode, (cue Tim Allen grunt here). I also went really light on the details for Silent Strike, which is against my own style, so I poured a little more on this time. For the box, I decided to do it a little differently, as well. I didnít want to just build another 14X14X6 box, so I made more of a landing pad. I imagine KillShot to be an experimental fighter that could be dangerous if it fell into the wrong hands, so I added a walkway watched over by two elite guards, or a couple dolled up ADU minifigs. Eh, it works.

I took it easy on the photo editing over my last few builds, letting the work speak for itself. Either that, or Iím getting lazy in my old age. Maybe just a combination of the two. But I went a little extra on the main pic for this one. I wanted to show this ship making its conversion from cruising to attack modeÖHulk style! You wouldnít like this ship when itís angry.

I included a lot of shots for this submission, but this build has many facets and I wanted to show off as much detail as I possibly could.

Letís have a look-see.

These first shots show the whole build together, showcasing the landing platform.

These next shots show KillShot in Attack Mode.

These are from underneath. It looks a little too much like the top for my taste, but I attribute that almost solely to having to use a duplicate windscreen on the bottom. I was looking for something solid, and if I wasn't held to the measurements of the contest, I would have been able to come up with something, but every solution I found put me over 14 studs. Oh well, still not a bad look.

Pilot and cockpit.

Thanks for looking, everyone. Hope you like this one. I like it better than Silent Strike, but tell me what you think.

Deadly design greatly served by details. And that landing platform... it's original, novative and brilliantly made. A little jewel!!

Most brilliant welldone! Your Killshot fullfilles every advantages one may put on an small space-fighter: coulorsheme, greebles/technic-systems, playable-components, compact-design, likely-shape, good cockpit, impressive engines...best workout!

How did I miss this? Great job, Tim. The compact design doesn't look forced, the perfect amount of greebles are present, and the landing platform is just icing on the cake. Very well done.

Awesome fighter Tim! I love how the wings open. The amount of detail around the engines is phenomenal. I love that canopy . I really like the pilot too. This landing pad is so cool with the two guards. As always Tim brilliant work. Best of luck to you in the contest.

Zippy! Not just an awesome little ship, but also a wicked cool landing pad. Everything works so well together to create a unique style of total fleet. I can see this as part of a massive armada. Love the compact design with the retractable wing ends to expose even more weaponry and agility, like the wings on an F-18. Sweet ride with an awesome garage!

The ship is great, but the real star here is that landing pad! What an amazing build, brick-built ladders and railing, nice accent coloring too.

Hi Tim. Your Ship is really very beautiful and very rich details. The landing platform I like almost better. The colors harmonize beautifully. The ladder is wonderful, and the little way to the platform is my absolute favorit. Excellent job

I was working on laser effects for my lil star fighter this morning but quite couldn't get it. How do you make the beams smooth and crisp?

Quoting David Alexander Smith The star here I think has to be the landing pad. I always love the adaption of the conventions of the contest to spark creativity. Interesting mini-fig choice too. Can you drop any hints as to the commission?
Yeah, it's a 1:1 scale model of a PBGV, or Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen. It's a type of dog. Beautiful one too. It's a daunting task for this here space builder, David, but I'm going to give it a shot. Thanks for the compliment.
