My entry for The Lands of Mythron July RC: Regroup
About this creation
Character: Jackson Korby
After a very, very long journey, Jackson and Sir Maxwell were finally getting close to the small town of Bourne. Before they get there, they need to make one last stop...
Inside a tavern named The Duke and Dog sits a rather tall gentleman, drinking some strong dwarvish wine.
This is Burnli. Known to some as Burnli Halfdwarf (due to his mixed lineage), a name which he does not care for, after all he is twice the average size of his father’s folk. Those who wish to stay in his good books call him by his preferred moniker... Burnli Doubledwarf.
The half-man/half-dwarf’s solitude was soon to be interrupted by our story’s heroes...
“Burnli Doubledwarf! I hoped we would find you here”, boomed Sir Maxwell.
“Well met Lion Knight! It has been too long.” replied Burnli, “Now, if this is about that money I owe you...”
“I’m here on much more important business. I seek The Wolf. I believe that he may be in the town of Bourne.” said Sir Maxwell. “And may I introduce my young friend, Jackson Korby”.
“Well met, Jackson,” nodded the half-dwarf.
“Aye, The Wolf and his company have taken Bourne. He has proclaimed himself as the town’s saviour and leader. Although from what I have heard they have mostly just been pillaging and killing. His grip over the town is slipping though. He no longer has the means to pay his men, and many of them have abandoned the town, only a few remain. If you mean to take the town, then you will not face too much resistance.”
“It sounds like we should strike as soon as possible” suggested Jackson, placing his map on the table.
“Aye. We will leave for Bourne on the morrow. Burnli, can we count on you to help us take the town and bring The Wolf to justice?” growled the Lion Knight.
“Of course, old friend... if the price is right.” said Burnli. His eyes glistening at the thought of earning himself a few pieces of gold.
“You’re forgetting that you are in my debt, Doubledwarf. Help us take the town and bring The Wolf to justice, and I’ll wipe your slate clean.” said Sir Maxwell.
“You’ve got yourself a deal, Sir” smiled Burnli.
Sir Maxwell went and spoke to the landlady and ordered a room for the night. It had been a long journey and our heroes would need their rest.
“Now, let us drink to our alliance!” declared Burnli.
The following morning, Jackson and Sir Maxwell returned to the bar to find that Burnli had toasted the alliance as thoroughly as possible...
"He may not be perfect, but his heart is in the right place... Sometimes." Said Sir Maxwell.
"I fear that we may have outstayed our welcome. TO BOURNE!", slurred Burnli.

Man, it took me forever to post this. I built and photographed this around Christmas time (before the Tourney). Was not very happy with the build, and was pretty busy, so never really got round to posting it. Thought I'd use it as my RC though as it fits the brief pretty well.
At least I've finally got the story moving again. Next up is my first rank challenge!
