My July RC challenge entry.
About this creation
The moment Spine jr. laid eyes on the Archdruid's manor, he knew he wanted one just like it. The sheer size of the building was enough to capture any passerby's attention, but the fat that the piece of architecture had stayed put for a hundred years, that was a great feat in itself to most. Jr., however, knew that the mansion was surrounded by the Archdruid's many spells and enchantments. Jr. was startled when his gaze was interrupted by an orc. He panicked, but the Archdruid blocked his path. Jr. realized his folly, and noticed that the orc had yet to attck, or make any other movements. "At ease." Muttered the Archdruid to the orc.

"Why do you have a tent full of orcs in your front yard, sir?" Jr. inquired of the Archdruid. "Full of orcs? Nonsense, there are just two of them, and I keep them as pets. Very dirty creatures they are, and I can't have them living in my home. However, I don't usually have need of them, being a druid and all, so, as a gift, I present them to you as a token of kindness, Lukas. They will be your guards, and will follow ever command you give them."

"Thanks sir, I don't know how I could ever thank you."

"You are most welcome. It was the least I could do, seeing as you are quite helpless without any training."

"Just one question, why did they put a fire in their tent? Won't the tent catch fire?"

"Ah, that. I put spells around the fire so nothing harmful to the tent or anything else escapes, but oxygen is still able to reach the fire."

"Come, master Spine, let us start your training."

Cool build. I love that it has lots of detail, but retains the classic Castle feel.

Here's your well deserved like! ;D

I really like how you incorporated the white on the upper levels of the house, I have tried this, but for me, it doesn't work.... I think the key is putting the wooden frame around it. Especially making the wooden frame rickety by using smooth and studded plates! I love this creation. Also, the door impressed me too, I like the use of the arrows. Overall, this is a fantastic build! I wish I could build like you!

I don't have the time for a detailed rundown, but this is certainly one of your best. The whole MOC looks great and is pretty well built. The whitewashed section is great, but the stone area is probably the weakest part of the build - the 1x1 undersides don't look that great and the stonework is a bit blocky (try to use smaller pieces if possible). Also, the timber looks pretty good but there's a one stud gap between the stone and whitewash section, maybe try to fill that in. Finally the roof edge is a bit blocky; if you don't have the pieces/patience to make the whole roof out of tiles/plates, at least make the overhanging bit out of tiles/hinges to eliminate the blockiness (as shown in Luke Watkins' medieval village guide). Overall this is a nice build though, great job!

Quoting Julia LeeP What an improvement from your previous builds! The main thing I noticed here is that you're starting to experiment with new techniques instead of keeping on doing what you've been doing, and while I would still change some things in this build, you're on the right track, methinks. Keep it up!
Thanks for the tips, Julia!

Quoting Dario Del Frate Excellent landscaping...I love the wheel on the side of the house and the ivy... The manor itself then it's absolutely fantastic, it looks very realistic with those nice timber boards slightly tilted! Great build and photography...
Thanks for the kind words Dario!
