Optimus Prime TF4 Evasion Mode
...where is Optimus Prime?...
About this creation
As most of you know by now I am not a big fan of what Michael Bay has done to the Transformers franchise...but my youtube subscribers nagged and nagged for a bot from the new movie. So I compromised giving them the closest thing to a G1 fig in the line: Evasion Optimus Prime. This Fully transforming model is made of bionicle, technic, HF and system bits, and plays homage to OP's G1 truck mode. It's the same size as my 2014 OP reboot. Although not my style of transformer MOCcing this model fully transforms without removal/addition of parts. The top is sort of a shell former and the bottom a bioformer. As you know I usually prefer G1 chunky. LOL! The legs were inspired by my recent TAC 100 creation. The transformation engineering is NOT the same as the toy release. Since this is likely the only TF4 movie MOC you will see from me, please enjoy!

Watch the video Review on Youtube for more insight into this model and how it transforms!

Deserves front page position. You remain my inspiration, and the first guy I mention when non-Lego-fans ask if there are any big names in Lego. Forget that Nathan Sawaya hack.

Quoting Seth G This, is just amazing. I do have one question though. What is the little control 2x1 on the top of the truck mode hanging out for? Just curious. But wow, you really outdid yourself making this one. Looks like a really confusing transformation. haha

try something easy like a G1 Minibot - very few steps to conversion. Start small and then expand.
Quoting Levi Koeppel So, I've just been wondering. In your expert opinion, who would be the easiest transformer to model a build on, as my first legoformer build? Thanks!

Well I'm glad that TF4 Prime 'Evasion Mode' (whatever that means) looks like the G1 truck, it was always the coolest because it didn't have that long hood sticking out the front. Anyway, nice work on the model, the legs look really good and feet in well with the system of the upper half. The mid-section is too skinny but not much you can do about that and still have it transform nicely. Good work!

Quoting Stuart Lucas Nice stuff! At least Optimus' evasion mode gets back to his G1 roots. Very nicely built, you are clearly in the swing of the mixed Bionicle/HF/system approach.

thx, although sometimes you just build what your fans want. But I do not forsee many bayformers in the future LOL!
Quoting Paddy Bricksplitter Don't make anything you don't want to. Stay true to what you enjoy. This is supposed to be fun. If you aren't feeling the Bay Transformers so be it. This is still a good moc though IMO.

Quoting Levi Koeppel Hey, is it just me or does that head look an awful lot like a Shockwave head? I think you would've been a little better off sticking to one of your older Prime heads. Great build nevertheless, though!

thx Andros
Quoting andros tempest @declan - I really don't think you are going to convince anyone that the Bay films are good if they have made their minds up that they aren't. And while feedback doesn't have to be all good, it does at least need to be respectful. Yes the legs do look a little skinny, but to get that bionicle look Bay favours, you have to make it less chunky than say a g1 design. It's a design sacrifice for the sake of transformation. I actually think Chris did a better job than Hasbro on this design.

well I am disappointed that you are disappointed...considering your the only one who doesn't like this perhaps your just too used to my usual G1 style that you can't except anything else
Quoting Declan Muller Oh, and by 'not a fan', I meant of this MOC. The movie was great (I saw it). Still, they kinda ruined the Dinobots. They didn't get one line in the whole movie. Also, for those who watched it, did you see the two-headed shockwave? :P

I'm gonna be honest here; not a fan. I guess your dislike for the films went through to the MOC, as it seems WAY too skeletal. This is honestly the first time I've ever not liked your creations. I guess once a Geewunner, always a Geewunner. But here's an idea: what about a G1 rendition of Crosshairs? You've gotta admit that Transformers with trenchcoats are pretty cool...

There are lots of ball joints on this design but also my OP 2014 reboot does aswell! I'd say different mobility not necessarily better.
Quoting Stephan N The more modern look, looks very successful. I have the impression of a total of more agility in this version. Great work.

(GASP)! I never thought I'd see the day that Chris Roach builds a Bayformer, but here it is. I think he looks pretty awesome, especially considering you used Bionicle type parts. The shaping looks pretty close to the "real" thing. Nice!
