Brickworld 2014!
Hey everyone! Welcome to my coverage of Brickworld Chicago 2014. This post features over 300 pictures, so it may take a while to load. I'll let the pictures do the talking since trying to go through and caption each photo would be a pain. This year I had the pleasure of meeting Lee Muzzy and Dave Kaleta for the first time. Also I got to see Max Pointner, Paul Vermeesch, and Ian Spacek once again. It was great meeting and/or talking with you guys, and I hope to see you all again next year. Sadly this year I couldn't display, but I'm really trying to make next year work. It was a great day filled with all sorts of amazing creations, vendors selling all sorts of Legos, and lots of cool people. If you haven't gone before, I highly recommend it. For those of you who where there however, was it just me or was Brickarms not there this year? I may have just missed it but I couldn't seem to find their store anywhere. Anyways onto the mocs!
About this creation
As I said above, trying to go through and caption these would be very difficult but I would still like to point out a couple of the my favorite mocs I saw there. The spectacular Odyssey display (The huge water table with lots of islands) was done by VLUG. Excellent job as usual guys! The massive pillar of autumn (huge dark gray space ship) and the scene from 300 (spartans fighting on a huge cliff) where both done by Lee Jones. The size of those was just crazy, and I love the circular ends of the pillar of autumn, great job! And Last but not least the princess bride scenes (the small church vig, the torture chamber scene, etc.) were done by Paul Vermeesch, Max Pointner, Ian Spacek, Matthew Oh, and Lee Muzzy. Correct me if I'm wrong about who did those, I know Max, Ian, and Paul did some... Anyways whoever made those you know who you are and I love the color shcemes and details in them. But enough of my talking, scroll down and check out these sweet creations!

Thanks for viewing! I hope you guys enjoyed. If I got anything wrong up in the intro (name spelling, who did what, etc.) feel free to correct me and I'll make the appropriate changes.

-Ben

What are the odds I was looking at the photo's you posted and one sure stands out its one I built and sold, but there it is under someone's name as creator. They didn't even modify it too funny.

Thanks for this! I'm going to my first Lego expo in August (bricks by the bay) and these pictures really help build the anticipation. However I do have a question. What were all the gumball machines in certain pictures. Is it something someone does as a prank or is it to signify that you're part of a certain group or something like that?

One of the things that always bugs me is that I'm usually so busy that I never get to see "all" of the cool stuff there! Thanks for posting this, It gave me a chance to see some of the mocs that I missed over the weekend! ~Chris.

What thorough coverage. You nailed every single one of what I considered the highlights of the event. It's a toss-up for me which was the best: Odyssey, or Neuschwanstein, or any one of the mosaics. Thanks for including several shots of the display Pete and I put together, as well. Did you stop by and talk to either of us? My memory is not what it used to be;)

Quoting Dennis Price Pictures to the left of my display? Check. Pictures to the right of my display? Check. Pictures of everything else but the part that I built in The Odyssey layout? Check. Sheesh, you know how to give a guy a complex, don'tcha? Great photos, and I'm hoping you had a great time. Next year, I'll try to be at my table so you can stop by and say hello if you're inclined. :)
Haha my apologies, Dennis (Mr. Price? Not sure which you prefer), I assure you I didn't leave out pictures of your creations on purpose. I was hoping to meet more of VLUG such as yourself but not many of you were at the tables as you said. Oh well, next year I'll be sure to say hello when I see you. Great job on your creations, by the way!
