LOM UC A Disagreement
The UC said to show your character's feelings towards the Mythron-Nerogue alliance and since actions speak loader than words, my character gets into a royal rumble with a Mythronian. I terms of the build, I'm a bit disappointed now. When I took the photos 5 days ago, I thought it was great. But now I realise there's plenty wrong with it. The photography is also, as always, an abomination of nature. My MBC will be up soon and that's far better, but for now, enjoy!
About this creation

Part the First

The four warriors had arrived in Reedus. Jolan had gone to buy a wig. Sir Gerdof was going to report to a high up general, but now the Black Lotus threat had abated, Blade and Arvan were unsure what to do. Arvan thought to himself. He had travelled all this way to serve justice and fight the BL and everyone else had done his job for him. His entire journey had been for nothing. He felt worthless, not to mention confused. Nobody had told him what to do next. He suddenly realized how disorganized and inefficient the Nerogueian army was. They were still a bunch of Outlaws, if somewhat friendly and nation-like Outlaws. He might as well take things into his own hands, it was what most Nerogueians did, if to a smaller scale. What if he could...

IMG_2653

There was some commotion up ahead. Some peasants had come to see what was happening, it wasn't everyday you saw a Mythronian knight, a Nerogueian and a what looked like a mercenary walking together. Arvan heard an old man talking to Gerdof.
"Please sir, have some pity! All I ask for is a few coins! King Rowan has taxed us until we've starved! I will have t-" He was cut off as Gerdof interrupted.
"UNHAND ME YOU FILTHY PEASANT! Sadon is king now fool! You've stained my armour for nothing!" The man tried to respond.

IMG_2655

Gerdof pushed him to the ground. "Now stay in the dirt where you belong!"

IMG_2656

Arvan initial reaction was to intervene. This stuck up idiot had been asking for a bashing throughout the whole trip and this was an excuse to give it to him. His Nerogueian morals also told him that the old man was doing nothing wrong and there was an injustice to fight here. However, Gerdof was a lot stronger than him and a far better fighter. He was also above him in rank. But what did that matter? Did he not swear a vow to his father's grave to stop this sort of thing? What was he thinking about before? Taking matters into his own hands? He made a decision.

IMG_2657

"Oi Gerdof!" he shouted "Do you really think that being a knight gives you the right to bully helpless civilians?"
"Yes" He responded simply
"I don't care if you do or not, I have a duty to stop you"
"I'm tired of you Nerogueians assuming that we need you to protect us and we couldn't live without us! Do you want to hear the truth? You're just a bunch of Outlaws with confused morals who we pay to protect our serfs."

IMG_2661

Arvan, not wanting to listen to anymore, ignored his disadvantage and charged. Gerdof, surprised at his sudden outbreak of hostility, nearly fell backwards. Arvan swung his sword down with force he didn't know he could produce.

IMG_2663

Gerdof somehow managed to get his shield up in time and a large crash resounded across the street. The force jolted Arvan's arm and he hesitated for a second.

IMG_2665

Arvan realised his foolishness when Gerdof countered with a shield bash which knocked him off his feet and tore his weapon from his hand. Gerdof knew that he was incapacitated and started to charge at him, ready to finish the job.

IMG_2667

Just as Gerdof was about to crush him, Arvan noticed 3 things:
1. Gerdof was so enraged now he wouldn't hesitate to kill Arvan.
2. Blade was nowhere to be seen, so he was on his own.
3. Gerdof had overestimated his power and Arvan could still move a bit.
He came up with a plan a split second before Gerdof was upon him

IMG_2668

Arvan rolled to the side as Gerdof was right above him and he continued to charge forward. Confused, Gerdof stopped to comprehend what had just happened. Arvan cringed with the pain and forced himself to his feet.

IMG_2669

His willpower and instinct overcame his pain as he just raised himself, Gerdof realized what had happened and begain to turn. Before he even had the chance Arvan delivered a powerful kick to the small of his back, again drawing strength he didn't know he had. Gerdof fell to the ground with a satisfying CRUNCH of breaking bones.

IMG_2670

Satisfied Gerdof was out for good, Arvan let out a sigh of relief. He was completely drained of energy. He was about to leave when he noticed something glowing in Gerdof's hand. His mind flashed back to when they were attacked in the woods, he remembered someone shooting a fireball at the robber, but not knowing who it was.

IMG_2673

He suddenly realized what was happening just as a flame shot from Gerdof's hand. He just managed to get to safety.

IMG_2674

Gerdof was in pain and exhausted and couldn't control his magic. His hand exploded, throwing him backwards and red hot fire coated his body. As soon as it happened the fire had gone and Gerdof appeared to be alive. Arvan didn't bother to check though.

IMG_2675

After realising his victory, Arvan contemplated what had just happened. Were all Mythronians like this? Did they all abuse their people? Had what the serf said about the Mythronian monarchy been true? And also did Mythron really think of Nerogue in the way Gerdof said they did? Not wanting to think about it anymore, Arvan turned to the old peasant.

IMG_2676

He offered him a coin. Without even saying thank you, the old man ran off so as to not be affiliated with what had just happened. Arvan then remembered Blade and looked around for her.

IMG_2677

Somehow Blade had suddenly reappeared.
"Where were you?" aked Arvan. He got no response. He tried again. "Why didn't you help?" Blade again didn't answer. Arvan was just going to let it drop when she decided to give him an answer.
"I wanted to see if you were going to do anything about him. I wanted you to prove you were more than an Outlaw with confused morals." Arvan was unhappy with this response.
"He didn't seem to think so" He replied, nodding in the direction of Gerdof, who was had now come back to consciousness and was rolling around in agony. "He disagreed enough that he was going to kill me! Why didn't you stop him!" Again Blade hesitated before giving an answer.
"He would never have killed you. He was blinded by rage. Making lots of mistakes. The only way you would have died is if you were so stupid that you deserved to die." Arvan, who was still full of unanswered quetions, still pushed on.
"What do we do now? The Nerogueian army is a bad joke. We have no orders. No-one seems to care what we do. Why not go freelance?" Blade smiled.
"You're having a day of sudden epiphanies, aren't you?"
Arvan took that as an approval. Somehow he felt Blade was never properly part of the Nerogueian army anyway.

~~~Additional pictures~~~
As I said before, I'm less happy wih this build now than when I built it, but there are still plenty of good things about it.
This house is my favourite thing in the whole build. The roof is terrible, but both the lower and the upper sections are interesting and look good.
IMG_2681
The texturing on this one is nice, but it looks a bit odd. I think it's the arch at the top. The roof on this one is also awful.
IMG_2682
Close up of the texturing which I'm a lot less proud of now than when I took the pictures and thought it deserved a close up.
IMG_2683
This tower I thought was a nice addition to the build. The lime and dark green added a bit of colour to what I though was quite a monotone build.
IMG_2686
That's all for now! See y'all!
Oh yeah, Also there's a good quality (sorta) title pic right here
Nice stonework! The textures in various places here are nice. Good work!
Quoting Thomas of Tortuga The stonework is quite nice on both buildings! As you get experience, you gradually start getting better at deciding what looks good :) I really like the lime accents. Also, the story is pretty hilarious. LOM needs more sarcasm :P
And that's what I'm here for! Also, thanks for complimenting the green accents. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes them.
Quoting Gilbert Despathens Oh, and the story deserves a smiley of its own. Don't drop the cynicism!
Don't worry Gilbert, thanks to this months UC, my character's story line is based around cynicism and maybe being a bit of a rebel. It's a lot better than before when I planned to have him become a ninja...
Quoting Halhi 141 If this is what you call low quality than I'm impressed by your standards...but anyway, nice build...although you showed the opposite side of the challenge from the side that our factions have been working on...
Thank you Halhi, the reason I was unhappy with this build was because of the roofs and the floor. The houses look okay but I think roofs and floor ruin that a little.
Quoting Mr. Cab Wow, looks pretty good! The only thing that bothers me is that the pictures are a bit grainy...
Thank you! I know I keep saying this and not delivering, but my future pictures will be A LOT better. I've taken some advice on board and I'm now using a better camera. I've already taken some pictures and they actually look okay.
Personally, I like the house with the arch best, and, like Halhi, I'm impressed with your standards. This build is still solidly above the LOM average, so I'm looking forward to your future MOCs. Going back to critiques, the road is the weakest part. You could always try a SNOT one if you can't get plates to work well - I did a couple roads like that last year and I found it was a pretty efficient and effective design.
Quoting Lindel Baskin Nice work, Joe! The building fronts look great, especially the center one. Nice texturing both on the wood and stone. The stonework is especially good on the house on the right. The center house is definitely the best! The main improvement that could be made is the on the base. The ground could use some more detail, or at least something to cover all those studs. Overall, nice work! Keep it up!
Why thank you, Lindel! I agree that the ground is definitely the weak area and I hope that I don't keep it up, but rather improve!
