DC: Dawn of Revenge - Destroyer
HMS Weston. Prepare to be sunk
About this creation
In order for a Navy to be a formidable force, they need the ships with firepower.

Battleships are expensive, and not very good at killing things. They are huge targets, and very vunerable to aircraft, submarines and other ships. The SPA are infamous for sinking ships using single submarines, or squadrons of MiG Fighters. As a result of this, the battleship was quickly removed from service with the UCF forces.

But you still need firepower on the seas... Welcome, to the Destroyer class.

The Destroyers are basically smaller battleships, but much more deadly. Because they are smaller, they are harder to hit, and they are much quicker, which makes them harder to pursue... Give a Destroyer guns, missiles and anti-air craft weapons, and you have a ships tha bristles with death, this, is the purpose for which they are designed: To kill.

The D4 Destroyer is the most common destroyer used by the UCF. It is the quickest of it's class, and it is armed to the teeth. This ship, won't go down without a fight. If at all.

Typical stats:
Armed with 2x 5 inch turrets. 12 Shells a minute, fire's HE.
8x Surface to Surface Missiles. HE warheads or themo-nucluear.
2x 7.62mm Gattling turrets. 500RPM
Optoinal: 6x Depth Charges.

Overall shot of HMS Weston. Formidable looking, no?

Other side.
This is the largest Ship I have ever made, measuring about 78 studs long. It's pretty heavy too, say about 3-4 kilos or so.

Those 5 inch turrets will make light work of any shipping that isn't sunk by the SSM missiles. With a fire rate of 12 shells a second, fed by an automatic loader, they can devastate even the toughest ships.

With 2 gattling posts, manned by the crew, the ship can defend itself against low flying aircraft, such as helicopter gunships or stupid MiG pilots. These turrets can also be used against 'softer' targets such as small boats or people.

With 8 SSM (Surface-to-Surface) Missiles, the D4 can sink an enemy ship that is over 8 miles away with ease. If ordered to, the D4 can also lay waste to shore-side structures, by launching 4 missiles at once, or by being fitted with Thermo-Nucluear warhead missiles.

Overall rear shot.

Close up of the 5 inch turrets

Showing the escape craft stowed at the back.

Each D4 is fitted with an escape-boat on the back. Think of it as just a glorified life boat.

In reply to zac:
LIke I"ve said, this model is fictional, therefore, it's made up. So, it's not going to be perctly correct in every way. Geez, is it too much to ask for you guys to read whats written on here?

In reply to Ben:
Er, so yo want me to use a lighter shad of black then? I dunno about you, but I can see everything perfectly in the first couple of pictures... It's really not that hard. Even with them in the small size, I can see it. Weird, you're the only one who "can't see" any details... Try altering your screen settings, or get glasses.

Absolutely great job on building ships like this. It reminds me the action flick "Under Siege 1" and definatly a Steven Seagal-like setting. Keep going on and on!

Pretty formidable-looking ship you've got there. Though the cannons seem a little large for such a small and light ship. Also, you need to spend a little more time on your spelling and grammar when you type things. Good day

It's really cool! But I think if you could make a destroyer you could have made a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, the Sitrian guy already made a heavy lift helicopter. LOOK AT MY MOCS!

Sorry it's been so long. Back from the grave now (Braaaaaains...), and can see this is awesome. Speaking of which, I need to get to work on the fast-attack ship. Anyway, I've been trying to get organized for the DC mod, and it's taken me a while.

It's got a chibi Advance wars-iness to it. I would say it's a little small for a destroyer, though.

Very realistic design. The black color really worked well, and the overall effect is great even if the lifeboat hanging from the back is a little bit awkward.
