It is without further nonsense that I give to you my single largest and arguably best Moc yet, the Republic Outpost. An upgraded version of my last base, this baby has been in the works for quite some time. It might not be the best on Mocpages but I spent a lot of time on this sucker and I'm very proud of the work I've done here. Thanks for all the support, and hope you enjoy.
About this creation
Overview of the entire facility and grounds.
The forest section and grasslands of the outpost. Yes, I have lots and lots of flowers...
Outpost and preparation bay portion. The prep bay also has a small platform for a Jedi Starfighter to land.
Large communications dish. Same basic design from the original Republic Base , although I added more details and greeblies. Much better looking now.
Portable command center oversees operations below.
Overview of the main loading bay area. Turrets dot the walkway from the bay to the rest of the grounds, while the air traffic control center and communications dish work to ensure security across the stars.
Main loading bay. An elite squadron awaits their next assignment from their Jedi Commander, while the LAAT receives necessary repairs and prepares to transport them.
The main forest area. Lots of foliage and detailing went into this, I'm happy with the way it turned out. The tall trees provide excellent platforms for sniping. Swamp speeder patrols the grounds while a trio of Wookies voice their displeasure about the lack of lady wookies.
Anyone spot the Christmas tree?
Ahsoka and her squad take a stroll through a flower patch.
A wall separates the main loading bay from the foliage.
Intruders are not taken lightly, however jolly they may be...
Rock formation and defensive wall. Jet trooper flies beneath a lone palm tree. Behind the rock formation and wall is a mortar, in case of attack on the main loading bay.
Team of swamp patrol troops prepare their vehicles for the next shift.
Hidden sniping platform in a rock formation provides excellent sniper support and an spectacular vantage point. Custom jet trooper up above.
A platoon gets debriefed by their Jedi Commander.
Plo Koon walking through the prep area. Basic tools here for vehicle/droid repair.
View of the roof. Lots of details and different techniques used here, tried to incorporate some SNOT.
Complete with anti-aircraft turret, EMP burst cannon, satellite dish (clones are fond of American Idol), ventilation shafts, windows, comms towers and more. Lots going on here.
Small supply shuttle. Carries various items from prep area to the main loading bay on the other side of the outpost.
Right control room. Deals with controlling on-planet systems.
Back section of the outpost.
Left control room. Deals with radar and communications.
Some detailing on the roof. Decided to try to incorporate some skylights into the roof, and while they're not very practical, I think they're pretty aesthetically pleasing.
Overview. Sorry I couldn't get a better picture, with a Moc this big I had to stand a few feet back to be able to capture everything.
View from atop the LAAT. Thought this was a neat shot.
My sig-fig, Jedi Guru Tom. I wish I could actually grow a beard like that...
Interior of the outpost. The floor is studless, an improvement off of the older version. Complete with bacta tank, shield generator, weapons control systems, gun racks, and 2 control rooms. The roof comes off cleanly as well.
Just to give you a feel for how big this Moc is. The Resurrection is about 96 studs long, not even half as long as this Moc is.
Republic Outpost Stats:
Construction Time: Took place over the course of a few years, wasn't done all at once. Worked on here and there, on and off for a while.
Piece count: Unknown, probably in the realm of 2500-3500 pieces.
Length: 216 Studs
Width: 80 Studs
Minifigs: 115 Total
-91 Phase 1 Clone Troopers
-4 Astromech Droids
-1 Republic Officer
-1 Imprisoned Santa
On a more somber note, I'm not sure when I'll be able to post another Moc. Our family is preparing to move to a smaller house in a different state now, which means some of my Legos will sadly have to into storage until we find a place for them. I'm gonna try to take as many as I can, but I can already see that my collection and piece count is gonna take a big hit from this. I'll try to get a few small Mocs out from time to time, but the phrase "going out with a bang" seems to be pretty accurate. I'll do my best to stay active in my groups and on Mocpages, but this is gonna be one tough test. Thanks for coming along for the ride all these years.
Until next time--
Sorry I didn't comment earlier. Nice stuff- some very interesting details- LOL. I especially like that large dish and Acclamator looks very great when landed. I don't really know if those yellow flowertowers suit to Kashyyyk though- bit too odd I think. Nice sigfig also- a lot of things to spot there.
Awesome! I usually try to leave at least one constructive criticism on every MOC I comment on but I can't seem to find anything that should change about this. The sheer size of the MOC and the amount of Minifigs is just awesome. I don't even think I own 100+ Minifigures, much less 100+ from one theme. The gunship is very cool, like the trees and grasswork. I remember building Clone bases when I was younger but they were never even close to as good as this. Keep up the good work!
