The P-51D Mustang was the workhorse of the USAAF in Europe during WWII starting in 1944. A big improvment over the earlier P-51B and P-47 Thunderbolt, it carried six 50 cal. machine guns and anough fuel to reach all the way to cities like Berlin and even Vienna.
