Despite I myself dont like "MOCs" non related to anything LEGO, I find it convenient to say a few words in this time. It is a year since I added my very first MOC - I think it was Itzcouatl Amphibius Strider.
First thing is that I am very glad that I discovered this page. I love LEGO very passionately, and for my whole life I had not have almost anyone that would share my passion for this kind of creativity. Here are so many people with this kind of interest and I am glad I can be one of them. I hope they wont crash in years, so maybe when I would have children I could show them what a miracle LEGO could be in hands of even mild-talended person.
Sadly, every light casts its own shadow. I spent too many time checking my creations if somebody noticed me, and I must admit I often forget that this is not real life, but a social network. My life wont be better if somebody recognizes their existention. Even if I were successful here, it does change my life. Yes, I love art, music, 3D things like LEGO, but for me, it is just a way to step away from reality and when your fantasies can not make you happy, it is probably time for learning to like the reality ...
Despite that, I want to thank all people that I came across MOCpages. I have found many talented people here which could do miracles from these little plastic parts. Maybe my disappointment comes from fact that in former socialist countries like Slovakia it is very hard to earn your living with any kind of art or just to have enough pieces to make something that looks professional. I want to encourage you, who live in US or western Europe to live your dream and make those LEGO art works again and again. They are so inspiring that they make more and more people to value fine arts.
Especially I want to thank people like Ben Eukatah, Commander Cold, JWG 285, Kevin Yoo, Stephan N and many more for supporting me. It is so nice to have any feedback for what am I doing.
What did I learnt from this year? Firstly, that LEGO is an art and it can have so much esthetic value that it is worth to be your main hobby. Secondly, one should not mourn when he is unrecognized. I saw so many unnoticed talents here that has inspired me so greatly that just from this fact alone I can tell that their effort had have some fruit. I tried my best to leave some constructive comment to encourage them to continue in their works. I believe that things have their universal value, and that most of goodness in real life is unnoticed and unvalued, but world would be so plain and harsh if people would do good things only to be recognized.
Thridly, one should explore MOCpages to gain inspiration ... there is so much stuff to admire and to give your courage to try to build something even better. Sharing knowledge is a way to go, i think.
What about future? It is ironic that now, when I am so eager to build something my LDD has crashed, so I am unable to do anything, even the most tiny flyer. I hope to expand my field of interest to Castle, because in my fantasies Atritians were nation that were most notable from their architecture and I have so many ideas to apply ... I plan to do smaller ships with more details and techniques, because I think I reached the limit of my CPU in creating large things. Additionally, it is more than possible to cover my ships with greebles, so when new CPU would be available, you may see much reworked versions of my earlier ships ... also I planned to continue my work with Unitron and Exploriens, as I admire those themes so much ... As for taking lesson from bad fruits of my desire for recongnition, I would stop adding my MOC so agressively into so much groups, as it can annoy some people that dont like my style.
Other thing is that I plan to join LOM, as it looks like lot of fun and I generally love Castle theme.
Last but not least, I hope to join more contests than before.
P.S. I bet no one can recognize that beautiful creature I posted as a title picture ... It is my favorite fish, one that has inspired my ships for most. It is called "Regalecus glesne", or giant oarfish. It is mysterious fish that lives in great deeps of oceans and is very rarely seen. It is the longest bony fish measuring about 14 meters. It is a base for legends of sea serpents, but aside from fact it can induce electric shocks it is harmless and feeds itself with krill. On the picture, it is juvelile form, which is especially cute to see upon :)
Fame is a long time coming. Any truly unique spaceship like the ones you make will take a long time to build a following. I have been on for about 5 years and its only in the last year that my MOCs have started to get 10 or more likes.
