Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3
About this creation
This is the Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-3, the Luftwaffe's most used fighter during WWII. Several versions were made, with the E-3 first manafactered in 1938. Unlike earlier models, the E-3 was armed with two 7.92mm machine guns above the engine and a MG FF cannon on each wing. The model, which is my first on MOCpages, is built at 1:48 scale and has working landing gear and a cockpit which can accomodate a full minifig. I worked on this model in conjunction with my friend Jet Best, who built a De Havilland Mosquito.

The front, note the open landing gear

The back, I'm not entirely happy with the wings, if you have any idea how I could improve them please tell me

The top, the Luftwaffe symbols on each wing are stickers

The bottom, landing gear retracted

The cockpit, it was quite a challenge to get it to fit a full mnifig, in order to do so I had to make the floor just one plate thick!

The stand, use of a ball joint lets the plane swivel

Ready for take off!

Just some random shots

And one last photo for good luck

Very nice. I love the fact that you have made a compromise to fit the fig in - and the plane still looks great. That's the real minifig scale.

Sir, you have achieved perfection. That spinner is just brilliant.

Nice Messerschmitt! Unbelievable that you've got room for a minifigure, but it also means that the fuselage is a little too thick, the scale considered, and it makes it look a little cartoonish. The propeller and spinner are well chosen, for my own 109, I chose one that was too big. Nice work, and welcome to MOCpages!

Quoting Yann (XY EZ) Hello & welcome on the pages! Jet talked a lot about you and your project of making a ww2 plane. I have to say that it looks fantastic! The colour scheme is very nice and fits very good to the plane and the overall realism of it is spot on for such a scale. That's a 5/5 for you! (Ps: add it to groups if you want to...) 8-)
Thanks!
