About this creation
Built for the 100 Piece Brick Built Figure Contest.

100 Piece Brick Built Figure Contest

Lady in Red & Black is an evolvment of my original stick figure creations {Gigi, Herve, and Mimi}. She is a real fashionista who takes her little tri-colored dachsund, Elke, with her where ever she goes. Her latest find is an oxygen shaped wristlet, whereby she stashes keys and cash. Which, by the way, is one of the mystery pieces. The dachsund's banana-shaped tail is the other.

The last picture is a Bonus Picture and has nothing to do with the contest. It shows one of the original stick figures with a Papillon. It is for those who are not familiar with the first creations. Note the size difference.

Quoting Kevin Yoo I had never before known the existence of tan bananas.(Let alone find a way to use them if I had any) Great creative work here.
Thanks. Check out the other creations from this contest and you will find many uses of this dreaded banana.

Quoting David Alexander Smith This could have been a straight up winner for me, but with only 2 mystery pieces used it wasn't to be. As for the lady, the I applaud innovative and precise use of slopes. The dish hat for me was the only element that didn't quite work. Still a class act.
Thank you very much. I appreciate your comments and what worked for you.

Quoting matt rowntRee Of all the mocs in here, this one garners the widest grin from me. I see nothing but love here built into the character that I can see a mile away and know that she is full of vim and vigor. I see experience and regret; I see pain and pure joy. I see a proud woman who has always been exactly who she is and never holds anything back except any sort of apology for her soul. I see life. She is! Nuff said. Your choice of parts is truly delicious, the skirt is exemplary but I find the hat to be exactly what she would, and should, wear. Flamboyant, garish, completely look at me and 100% fitting. The only thing that could improve any understanding of her character would be a cute little accessory on a leash that begs for equal attention. Voila! Even with two Mystery parts, definitely a high contender in my eyes. Faaaabulous! And, of course, congratulations!
Thank you for the great critique. Adding a trinket to the leash would have meant 101 pieces. Unfortunately if I had thought of that, there were no parts to use.

Quoting Tim C This is just wonderful, Cheryl. Definitely one of my favorite works in the contest so far. It's so difficult to limit oneself to 100 pieces and build a figure with any semblance of quality, but you have pulled that off beautifully here. I love the skirt. Some brilliant parts usage there. I also like how you pulled off the hair. I think there's going to be a serious why-didn't-I-think-of-that factor when people see that dog tail banana. "Of course a banana as a dog tail!" Really great work. Sure to be a front runner. Best of luck in the contest.
There are many more new creations coming and the best is yet to come. I already saw one today. Thank you for your nice comment.

Quoting Michael Rutherford Ms. P, this gal rocks. That skirt invokes the roaring 20s like no other Lego skirt ever has! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flapper She has a wrist that looks like it was made to hold two oxygen bottles in place (You gentlemen know what Im talking about!). While I am generally an advocate of banana tails on wiener dogs, I cant help but to opine that in this particular case, it is an example of a second mystery part displayed on a second figure. Dont get me wrong. That fruit BELONGS on that canine. Any artist would agree: It looks much better on the dog than it would on the lady! But dog and lady each rate the status of figure in their own right... despite the leash that connects them, and their obvious emotional relationship. I bet the judges hit you on that point. Nit picky rules aside, I like this gal! Shes got panache! Attack!
Maybe. Maybe not. The judges made the rules. But, this is a creative process. The judges maybe surprised by what comes their way.

Now I understand. I went to the Explore Page and found I was one of the creations for Most Popular for the Week. Thought I would never end up there. Seems to me, those spots were reserved for creations with 50 or more likes. So there must be a higher power judging which creations go there. Again, I want to thank all who have commented and liked my Lady in Red & Black. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be there.

Thanks. I really don't understand. The line above the 12 creations says Everyone's Creations....Popular Today. That is the way it should be. That day. The new creations should get noticed and have their day in the sun. Not a creation that has been around almost a week. But, I really appreciate your comment.

So, you are liking the skirt. You can thank builder Calvin for that. He commented that my EZ Rest Bed and Breakfast would look better if I had built my own trees. So, I went on the hunt for more foilage parts. I found a package of bushes on Ebay. The small red bushes, when turned upside down, looked like little hula skirts.
