LIU Aerial Farm Tender
Spray fertilizer or pesticides over vast areas of crops in no time at all with the LIU Aerial Farm Tender.
About this creation
LIU Aerial Farm Tender - (AFT)

The Ludgonian Industrial Union's vast Super-Farms require constant care to reach their maximum crop production. To insure that such a large area of farmland (usually planet-wide) is cared for quickly, the LIU designed the Aerial Farm Tender, also known as the AFT. After our success with the AFT, we offer it to our customers.

Here's the AFT in action over one of the LIU's planet-wide Super-Farms. The remaining photos of the AFT were taken in a LIU Studio so our customers can see it in more detail.

The AFT was designed to be quick, stable, and durable.

A large wingspan gives the AFT stability when carrying heavy loads of fertilizer or pesticide.

The tank is located behind the cockpit. It carries about three tons of compressed chemicals.

Bottom of tank and cockpit...

Here's a close up of the AFT's advanced nozzle that sprays chemicals in a fifty foot wide swath.

Stabilizing thrusters at the end of each wing keeps the AFT level when spraying and aids in making tighter turns. A level, tight turning machine is more efficient.

In this case, the most important part of efficiency is speed. An advanced atmospheric engine helps the AFT top out at about 4,500 mph (Mach 6.72). The pilot can tend thousands of acres a day at this speed, only stopping to replenish his fuel and refilling his sprayer's tank.

A retired fighter pilot now enjoys his retirement flying an Aerial Farm Tender. You get to fly fast without having to worry about being shot down, well depending on where you're farming.

Yep, being a farmer has never been so cool.

Note: Please make sure you have experienced pilots manning each AFT. At these speeds and low altitudes, a minor mistake can result in death. The LIU is not liable for pilot errors. In fact, we refuse to be liable for any aspect of the AFT.

I love the concept of a supersonic crop sprayer, though I fear that the shockwave might flatten the crops a little. My farmer friends would love this machine. They already have self piloting GPS navigated combine harvesters, so this machine looks like the the logical step forwards.

Sweet. Congrats on MOC of the day. It is just a bit hard for me to imagine a jet, futuristic plane tending fields. I usually think of prop planes. Oh, well, it's cool anyways.

It seems as though the LIU has thought of everything an allied empire might need, i didn't know you had farming stuff too! i should pay more attention to your degree of goods and products.

Whoa. The ship's look perfectly matches its function and you're moving well away from the blockiness that characterized your early LIU creations. I agree with Andrew, it should probably replace the Swarm bomber as it is a much better design. Excellent small spacecraft.

Nice! Can the tank be filled with deadly chemicals, or napalm? Then you could wreak havoc on a planet, with a swarm of these! If so, I'll take 500!

Nice idea for a utility craft. And the guy who asked why the crops are so big, that's what using the Aerial Farm Tender gets you.

Beautiful. Elegant. Simple. Exact. Concise. Charming. These are some of the words that spring to mind. Not only a great and original concept, but the ship itself is so cool!

Fantastic! This is going to be great for the nation! Hey, I was wondering, can I show a miniscale version of your grain transport in my upcoming Orbital Colony ship? :) Anyways, you can show a Faron in your new building. Use your imagination though when you build one, because I deleted the Faron people from my MOCpage. So..... can ya use an army type Faron?
