31006 Alternative - Pebble Beach
It's been built since the 25th but I've finally got around to taking photos. It's been on Flickr for 3 days, but Yesterday and Wednesday, I couldn't load MOCpages, so that was an issue...
About this creation
So. Thanks to my Grandparents, I now have the incredible set 31006, and I dug straight into making alternatives. And failed. I went through many models (Muscle car, cruiser, pick-up, vintage car, you name it) and after my second attempt at a sports car front end, I was a happy chappy. Until I couldn't put any wheel arches. But luckily, my Dad said it could be a futuristic, F1 style kit car, or sports car thing. So there you have it. A futuristic-ish hybrid roadster.
So, why the name? Well, Flickr's LUGNuts most recent challenge is to make a car named after a place. After a miss understanding, I had only a week left to build something. This was already built, so I went in pursuit of a car show name. Detroit, Geneva, Paris...But remembering the Mclaren X1, I thought pebble Beach would be a goodun.

Here you can see the front. I took the opportunity to take photos outside, which is a first for me. Sorry about the hazy photos.

The rear. I love those exhausts.

Side profile. The grey bit is meant to be an air intake.

Rear part of the body comes off with ease, to reveal many holes, the interior and a battery.

Talking of interior...

Quoting Henrik Jensen Nice alternative, I am quite surprised that you have managed to avoid the two blue Technic Beams. It may also mean that the entire SNOT-chassis is quite fragile. But it looks pretty good. Looking forward to see more alternates.
I avoided them again....

Quoting Chris Maxter Because it was an evolution of the r7 it had to have the same wheels. But be sure it is the last time.
Okey-doke! Just making sure, that's all. Reading the comment again, it sounds a little harsh...sorry about that.

Quoting Alexander Paschoaletto the showing wheels make this car very sporty looking. Love the solution for the chassis and those cylindric tail lights are a nice touch. I want one!
Haha! I'll have to try to make and LDD file then. ;D Thanks Alex!

Quoting Nick Barrett The name 'Pebble Beach' conjures images of something too shiny and over-restored from the 1930s.... this looks like it's from the 2030s. Very nice!
I was thinking of Mclaren X1 and Laraki Epitome at the time. Thanks Nick!

Quoting Turbo Charger Very interesting alternative model, but it is kind of the same, you know a sport car from a sport car set, but it's your vision from the set, and i like it.
