Lands of Mythron UC: Battle for Griffin Claw Keep
About this creation

Destrian and two other Neroguian archers sped towards the stone staircase that led to the top of the keep wall. The combined forces of the Neroguians and Mythronians were preparing to defend Griffin Claw Keep from the second wave of Black Lotus and Outlaw armies, after the first wave had driven them back. While Sir Kindle would lead the ground combatants by the wall, Destrian would defend from above, using his bow and freshly restocked quiver of arrows.

The mass of archers took their positions on the wall, and after a few minutes, the Black Lotus and Outlaw forces appeared and began their charge. Volley after volley, arrow after arrow, the enemy forces were slowly dwindling. Each of Destrian's arrows met their mark, but even with the all the firepower that opposed them, the enemy reached the entrance to the keep.

The ground combatants below charged into the fray. The clashes of battle rang through every swordsman's ears. Sir Kindle fought with such valor that he himself kept the enemy at bay.

Destrian, realizing that it was pointless to defend from above when the enemy was now at their doorstep, headed down towards the entrance to help defend from there. As he descended, he send down a torrent of arrows into the Black Lotus hordes.

That's when he saw Sir Kindle begin to engage another Black Lotus warrior in combat. As he did so, a Black Lotus mage prepared to fire a powerful spell at Sir Kindle, possibly to end his life. Destrian knew that by the time he would have an arrow fitted on his bow string, the spell would already have hit Sir Kindle.

Instead, he dropped his bow, channeled energy into his left hand, and unleashed a mighty frostbolt spell from the palm of his hand. The spell had such an intensity that it blasted the mage into the keep wall.

Destrian jumped onto the landing of the staircase and shot another outlaw attacker as Sir Kindle swung his sword putting an and to the Black Lotus warrior's life.

Sir Kindle turned and saw the Mage's body. "Did you kill him?" He asked Destrian.

”Yes, I did! He was just about to put a spell on you so I shot a frostbolt at him."

“Guess I'm going to have to be more discreet next time."

Sir Kindle and Destrian then turned back to the hordes, ready to face the next attackers.

The Build

This building was the first one I built, and my favorite. I took inspiration from the awesome Halhi 141.

This one is much more simple, but even so, I am pleased with how it looks,

The wall doesn't use any very special techniques, since I exhausted nearly all my special small parts that I use for texturing on the houses and ground.

The road technique is something I've always wanted to try for a while, and i loved how it turned out.

A bit messy for you, but still good. I have to say I was looking forward to more of a battle, but the story was still good as well! ;)

You've built better - but you really nailed the layout and the one building with light tan and white is nice.

I like the texturing on the right-hand building! However, the cobblestones look a little too neat for my tastes. Also, I think the very front portion of the build is under-detailed, and needs either a larger tree or two, or to be eliminated. Also, and I'm sure you know this already, some of the angles on the house corners are just a bit off. Overall, very nice work!

And I eat my own words, sorry 'bout that. I was mainly disappointed because of the pic quality, and not the build itself.

Quoting Zach Lucia I'm not disappointed with this build at all

@Halhi, I'm not disappointed with this build at all, it is an incredible build. I just feel it need some more work.

While there's some parts, namely the roofs and some of the greys distribution, that seem a tad messy, overall it's a fantastic build and this will give my entry some tough competition. My only other real concern is the timber framing on the right building - on the side seen in the main picture, there's only one beam going right down the center; having 2 beams with 2 studs of space between them (perhaps with a window in that space) would look better. That being said, I must disagree with Zach: I was quite impressed by the build, though I think you might do well going smaller like usual and working on getting a tad more refinement. Well done, nonetheless!

Quoting David . Nice build, but I agree with Zach, it's a bit messy for you. Again, Nice build! :)
I wonder if the pic quality is causing you guys to think that. Flickr wasn't coopersating, but I was pleased.... @Zach Halhi puts studs on his buildings like that too.

Nice work! Great layout, I love the gate/wall. The path looks great, with the exception of that pair of round 2x2s, which seem awkward to me. The little house is great! The roofs are interesting, but they seem a bit messy to me. The story is excellent as well! Overall, fantastic work!

I dunno, this is a solid build, but, it's a mess. The roof of the house is a mess, the walls look, I dunno, messed up? And the studs on the walls? I dunno if I'm just used to spectacular builds from you, or if you just didn't put that much work into it. (Sorry for pulling the Halhi, but I was really pretty disappointed with this.) ~Zach
