G1 Optimus Prime
Transformable, Lego, purist G1 Prime
About this creation
So, this is My Lego rendition of Optimus Prime. He's about the same height as MP 10 Optimus Prime. I designed him to capture the feel of cartoon G1, so there are a few areas that are not wholly accurate, however, I have done the best I can.

Truck Mode

Cab - Side

Cab - 3/4

Cab - Rear

Cab - Turntable

Cab - Front

Trailer (Unfinished)

Trailer - Rear
It's not a great photo, but I wanted to show the number-plate. The trailer isn't really finished.

Trailer - Open

Repair drone Up

Roller

Roller outside the trailer. I went for the grey colour rather than the blue that some people have used

Roller can mount Optimus' blaster

This turntable piece allows Roller to pull Prime's trailer, which I now realise I took no photos of

Now, we begin the transformation:

Flip up feet

Split legs

Raise figure

Fold up mudguards

Flip out arms

Fold down back-panel

Fold panel awkwardly

Half-raise head

Collapse panel

Rotate torso

Pose head

Deploy hands

Pose arms

Take this...

And fold it like that

Then take this...

Push it up here

And secure it in to make the sides of the lower torso

Now, we take this Matrix (yes, I know it's chrome gold and not orange)

And put the Matrix in Prime's chest

And close chest

Pose with Ion Balster

Now, If we remove the hand, then...

We can equip his energon axe

This axe was in one episode for about 40 seconds, and it became famous.

Prime has a fair degree of pose-ability. His Elbow is hinged and swivels

His Shoulders are on balljoints

The neck has two hinges and can swivel

The waist swivels

The hips use mini balljoints

The knees are on knights-kingdom ratchet joints

And the ankles are on mini balljoints

His back. It's actually relatively clean here

His trailer/combat deck can stand up to fulfil the roll of repair bay

Prime can stand on the combat deck

Size comparison with Reaper

Size comparison with the offical Masterpiece Rodimus Prime

With a Minifig

4th Wall:
Ok.
I'm back

I'm very happy with this. I think I've managed to capture all the right elements of Prime, without sacrificing accuracy. Credit to Chris Roach for about 1/3rd of the head design here.

Quoting A SwordFish I love that it can actually fold and do it so cleanly! That must have taken a long time to perfect. How did you go about that? Please check out my Acclamator Assault Ship if you get the chance, thanks!
It certainly did take a long time. I sort of had to work around each section individually, then make sure they worked together

Quoting Gabriel Thomson That is amazing work! I really love these folding models, it's like lego origami. So far beyond what my brain will do. :)

Such a smooth looking truck, with no obvious gaps to show that it unfolds and become the robot. A super build.

Aside from a few minor nitpicks, like colour on the elbows, this is a very nice Optimus model, and that matrix is the best I've ever seen. So much nicer that bulkier, brickier models you see elsewhere.

Excellent version! Very true to the original toy. I don't know how Roach gets to these 'formers so quickly, either. Nice work, Chief!

I don't know thay I could ever design something like this. Having to work around two forms... that's got to be tough. Excellent work. Also, Matrix adds +10 to awesomeness.

I would like to say that this is amazing. I like the Mixel joint usage. Great job, I would also like to say that I am extremely jealous of that Rodimus Prime Masterpiece (I would kill for). I love this MOC!
