LTC Spectre V3.1: Spectre Prime
The story of Spectre was a strange one. At first, he was a simple scholar who followed in Megatron's ways. Then, he was a soldier, fighting for his life, stranded on a planet. Then, he joined with Megatron once again, only to go insane due to the Scythe Of Perfection. He was almost killed, but came across Quintesson reformatting technology that changed his form into one that was slightly weaker, but able to keep him alive. However, his story did not end with that. An army of Quintessons arrived soon after, but they were not the same as those the Autobots had fought in the past. These had replaced their regular bodies with powerful Mecha, and they were led by their most fearsome commander - Lord Cinder. Cinder eventually attacked both the Autobots and the Decepticons, and neither of them could stand up against them. There were casualties, including the sad demise of Bumblebee. But hope came from the most unexpected area. Spectre, and his recently revived companion Lugnut, rose up from their hiding place and attacked Lord Cinder. Lugnut was immobilized in a rockslide in the battle, leaving Spectre to fight off the Quintesson madman. The tides were not in his favour, and Spectre had to act fast. Without thinking, he somehow summoned the Scythe Of Perfection. However, this time is had a different effect on him. Instead of turning him mad once again, it recognised his bravery and transformed his body, which somehow had Autobot symbols on it. Using the scythe, which now had the powers equal to that of the Matrix Of Leadership, he completely obliterated Lord Cinder, down to the very last atom. Optimus Prime saw this, and made the connection with a prophecy he had once been told while speaking with Alpha Trion. He somehow accepted Spectre into his ranks, and in this Process Spectre realised his potential for good and became a Prime. However, unlike most of the Autobots, he still believes that Megatron is capable of good inside. Through this, he attempts to contact another ally of his embedded in the ranks, known as 'Sledgehammer', so that he can one day unite the two sides into a perfect republicÖ
About this creation
Okay, if you havenít read the top part of this MOC, you should. Just go and read it now, because Iíve made some REALLY big changes to the story. For those who have read it, youíre probably wondering what the hell is going on here. If you think Iím making this stuff as I go, youíve got it all wrong. Up until this point, the entire story has been thought out already. Itís kinda a fanfiction inside my head, and all the character bios tell it. I mean, sure, some parts are changed to make way for newer characters and to update things a little bit to mirror existing continuities, but this is not one of them. Spectreís full storyline, up until this point, was all thought out. He was always going to become a Prime, and he was always going to wield the Scythe Of Perfection as a force of good. But, well, beyond this, Iíve gotta go back to the drawingboard (or writingboard). Oh, and sorry about BumblebeeÖ

Okay, now that that introductionís out of the way, I can get started on the MOC. This project is something Iíve been wanting to do for a LONG time. Ever since I made version two, people havenít been too happy. So, I wanted to make version three there and then. However, at first I wanted to drag it out for a bit and take a break from this guy. After that, it was just laziness. I just couldnít be bothered. Then, I saw the promo images for the Mixels sets. I thought Ďhey, those new ball joints would be a perfect step up for Spectre V3. Maybe I should leave it until they come outí. Well, they took FOREVER to come out, but they finally did. I quickly got used to building with them and put this guy together. I was planning on building this guy last week, but I got busy. Iíve just started a new job down at Chowder Bay, I have to prepare for Easter, thereís homework to do and I had eyelid surgery. Yeah, EYELID SURGERY! Still, I never got it. I actually went into shock before it happened due to an allergic reaction from the eyedrops. I fainted in the process, and maybe had a seizure. It was kinda weird, as I woke up and couldnít tell whether what had happened before was a dream or not. But anyway, now that that ordealís all over, Iím finally ready to post this. Enjoy! :)

Also, as a side note, I knew the story BEFORE C West made the failed ĎTransformers Battle For Energoní series that was supposed to take place after Lego Transformers Conquest. I never really considered it canon (this thing was never canon to begin with, but you get the picture) as part of this storyline, but more of a Ďmultiverse storylineí. The whole idea of Spectre becoming a prime was made LONG before that group ever existed. Also, a big shout out to West (now known as Toa Callux, whoís self MOC I hope to do a similar thing that I did to Chris The Sledgehammer, which is incorporating it into the LTC storyline), whoís a big fan of mine.

So here we have Spectre Prime in his vehicle mode.

The main idea around this was to make him a car again. He just didnít work as a skeletal truck.

As a Prime, he needs to be bigger. So, he turned out pretty well. The transformation is very complex, though. In many ways, itís similar to how it works when compared to Optimus Exprime from ĎTransformers Go!í. The way the torso works is the closest in both figures.

Hereís just a close-up of the front section. I tried to make it a little bit like the original, but with a new more rounded feel to it.

Hereís a close up of the side. Everything here just folds together really well. Iím really happy with how both modes turned out.

Hereís a view from the top. Itís a bit hollow on the inside, but you can barely see it.

For a size comparison, who else would I choose? Heís WAY bigger than version one (left) and even bigger when compared to version two (right).

Once again, Iíve decided to use gifs for my transformation. Itís easier than using one photo per transformation step, and shorter as well. If I didnít do this, BTW, this page would be at least a metre longer. For those you use the imperial system, I feel sorry for you. I mean no disrecpect, but you have to remember all sorts of numbers. All us metric users only have to remember things in tens. :P

(Also, apologies if it doesnít work. Itís a very large gif, and I donít think Brickshelf handles it very well. I think they cut off the end of it. -_-)

And here we have Spectre Prime in his epic robot mode!

The amount of detail and articulation on this guy is quite a lot. The only problem is that with all the kibble and decoration, the articulation doesnít work the best.

There isnít a lot to put on the back, and youíll see why a little further down.

I of course had include the legendary Scythe Of Perfection. Still, though, Iím not happy with it. So, I got Chris The Sledgehammer to design a better one. But Iíll leave that for later. Hereís a view from the frontÖ

Öand hereís a view from the back.

He can hold is in either hand, but the way itís designed makes it better for the right hand.

Now, when I was thinking about what would make Spectre even more awesome, it hit me. GIVE HIM A CAPE! So, I made one. I just bought some material from spotlight and it worked well enough.

The coolest thing about it is that the Fusion Cannons he had in version one are actually a part of it.

There are two main parts that it connects onto are the back and the shoulders. So, with two points on each side, thatís four points in total. The back parts connect to the cape by threading it through two plus-axel bricks (thatís what Iím calling them) with an axel through the middle. They connect to the back by using 2x2 offset tiles.

The other part it connects with relies on technic half-beams. These are held together by the fusion cannons, the beam for the shoulder and a bit of decoration made out of a half-section of a Bionicle Thornax Launcher. No, itís not the Hero Factory one, as I donít own any spare parts of those.

You can see that the cape easily fits on like so. It gives him a real powerful look.

It also covers up the kibble on the back. An added bonus! :)

This is kinda like the promo photo you saw on The Lost In Time Matoran. He still looks cool, but seems cooler with context.

One of the small details you can see here is that he gets a chain around his neck when heís wearing his cape.

Hereís a gimmick I bet you werenít expecting. Remember the Hypax Armour? Well, in this version, itís built in! As what could be counted a third mode, you can move a few parts around and voila! You have an armoured version of Spectre Prime! To see how it works, look at the gif.

And here it is, with probably not the best photo to start off with because you canít see anything. Still, he looks cool in this shot.

Ah yes, thatís better. From this view, you can see that to transform him, you fold in a few of the parts from the side kibble to form a chest part, you fiddle with the arms a bit and you fold out the top sections to the side.

The cape can still be put on even in Hypax Armour mode, which is nice.

Back to the size comparisons again! He easily towers over the prior versions ,which adds to the overall sense of power. Also, when looking at a standard Minifigure (me), he seems more like a midi-scale figure then a micro-scale one. After doing Callux, I think Iíll make them smaller again.

As a bonus to this MOC, Iíll show you a little thing I did with the design. I thought Iíd try what Chris Roach did, which is make a frame before building. He mostly does it with a T-Joint Frame, but as Iím using hinges and mini ball joints, I designed a different one.

From the back, you can see, well, the back! Thereís not really much to it, so Iíll show you one last thing and get on with it.

Hereís just a short one-minute video showing a sped up version of me placing the pre-made parts on the frame. I took them off just for the photos, so I thought I might as well show a video putting them back on.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, thatís enough for the IRL stuff. To finish off, hereís the better version of the Scythe Of Perfection that I didnít design, but rather edited a commissioned one. You see, I wasnít happy with my IRL version. So, I emailed Chris The Sledgehammer the base of it and he sent me back four different versions. I took it from there and edited the one I liked a bit, and hey presto! It worked!

Just giving a HUGE thanks to Chris. You should really check out not only his homepage, but you should also see his take on LTC Spectre, Samuron (which I think is utterly awesome) & Soundwave.

So here are the four (five if you count the minifig scale one) versions he sent me. They are really great, donít get me wrong. Itís just that there were two main problems. The first is that they probably wouldíve fit better with version one, when it was an evil weapon. And secondly, there is NO way I can get those parts off PAB. So, those are the main reasons I altered them. But anyway, letís have a look at these awesome babiesÖ

The funny thing is that the handle is on backwards on ALL of them, but whatever. This one was cool, but the end seemed too round.

Also in the rounded format, he made a better version with a skull on the back. It looks amazing, but I just canít see the Scythe Of Perfection as an evil weapon anymore.

The third one has a flatter front section. This works MUCH better. Still, the problem with this one and the first one is that they donít sell the Hero Factory parts on PAB Australia anymore. It may have been better if I ordered this back in 2013, but itís too late now.

The same problem happens with the headed version. You cannot buy HF parts on PAB Aus. Still, though, a weapon with a head on the back could create a could character trait. Iíll wait to see what Chris Says, though, as it was his idea and I hate plagerism.

This little beauty is a Minifig scale one. Itís adorable! :)

In the end, I have only a one thing to say. The designs were fantastic, but they donít fit in with the storyline and they canít be bought on PAB. Still, thank you SO much Chris for doing this. :)

Well, thatís it for this MOC. Iíve put a lot of effort into this, so please like, comment and add me as a favourite builder. I know people always say this, but the more support you give that person, the happier theyíll be and the more likely they are to continue on the site. Anyway, as always, happy building! Now, Iím going to bed now. Iím probably going to have nightmares about the hospital againÖ

Quoting C west /Callux Toa of Fire This is amazing! We need to start Ltc back up. Btw, I can't wait for Callux! This is an amazing moc!
I'm already planning on continuing the LTC line. If you're referring to the group, or battle for energon, then forget about that. CYOAs always seem to fail. Well, unless it's something AMAZING such as the Lands Of Mythron.
Quoting Chris - The SledgeHammer Thanks for giving me credit like you always do! Nice job on this. Although next time maybe drop some hints to me about the scythe now being a weapon of good and I would have made the blade in a different color! None the less, great job!
Yeah, sorry about that. Still, they were all fantastic. I won't post instructions fot it, BTW. I wouldn't put out your work without your permission, and even if I did I think this guy is better if he's kept under the wraps. :)
