About this creation

Baruka: Native Son [00]

This Toa of Fire hails from a primitive and peaceful tribe of Matoran living in the wilderness. His bone-adorned armor and fang-fingered gauntlets may appear sinister, but Baruka is actually a naive and valiant warrior with a pure heart.

Baruka: Native Son [01]

Baruka: Native Son [07]

Several thousand years ago, a cadre of Order of Mata Nui agents arrived on Baruka's home island, searching for a rumored Toa of the Sixteen.

Baruka: Native Son [08]

Baruka: Native Son [02]

It is theorized that there was always one Toa of each element at a time to have a more significant destiny than all of the others. When the agents found Baruka, they assumed that his elaborately adorned armor must've been given to him by his tribe in recognition of his power, and assumed him to be the Toa of Fire (one of these 16) for whom they searched.

Baruka: Native Son [03]

Baruka: Native Son [09]

He was kidnapped and brought to Daxia, the agents taking advantage of his innocent and compliant nature to mold him to their needs. Baruka was aware of this, but assumed that he himself was simply ignorant of the truth, and went along with their plan because he thought that the Order knew right.

Baruka: Native Son [10]

Baruka: Native Son [04]

The True Sixteen are dead. Nobody knows exactly what happened to them. The Sixteen collected by the Order were left abandoned on their own after their moment passed and their task was failed.

Baruka: Native Son [05]

Baruka: Native Son [11]

The unity developed by the Sixteen over their time together held strong, however, and they - for the most part - stayed as one. And eventually, some say, the False Sixteen found their destiny, surpassing the failure of their theoretical predecessors, the True.

Baruka: Native Son [12]

Baruka, for his part, returned home to his island. His village met him with open arms.

This is a revamp of this old MOC. I've meant for a long time to start building full versions of my simple tablescrap MOCs, and this is the start of that.

With Baruka's original mask:

Baruka: Native Son [23]

The new Kanohi - the customized Kakama - was made by Modalt Masks.

Yes, yes, I know I've been building with dark red a lot recently. I'll get to some other colors soon, I promise. I just don't have many green or blue pieces.

Whoa! That is so cool! I like his dark-red-and-black color scheme spattered with white and highlighted with trans-yellow. The custom mask looks really great on him, and so does the Huna! The poses he can pull are very lifelike. His backstory is intriguing. I like it. What a great introduction to the Bio-MOCer community!

Quoting Cevka ~ Excellent. I like him, mostly because of his deceiving looks. The idea of bone adorned armor is a pretty neat idea. I don't like the modalt mask as much as the vakama one, but the modalt doesn't look bad. Also, are those rubber bands on the lower legs and upper arms there to hold something together, or are they just there to spread the white color a little bit more?
Thanks man! The deceiving appearance is exactly what I was going for. The rubber bands on the legs and arms are not strictly necessary for the build to stay together, but they do aid the stability.

Quoting Rennoc ~ The bones on the armour stand out a lot and it looks great. The customized mask is also lovely, especially with the rubberbands.

Quoting Bobby B. Amazing! This is probably one of your best MOC's. I'm also a sucker for a good conspiracy, and the back-story with the Order of Mata Nui just hits the right notes for me. Excellent work!
Thank you! :)

Quoting Dark Aeon Great moc! Also, how does bionifight even work? Is it basically just people chatting to each other or am I missing something? (I probably am).
I'd suggest reading the main post there and a bit of the first few rounds to get a good idea on how it works. It's basically a text-based PVP RPG. The current round (13) is in the Bionifight Classic gametype, which is silly and random, so if you wanted to get a good idea of the game I'd suggest looking at anything before the beginning of round 13. :P

Quoting Toa Infernum @ Chro: I signed up. ;). I think I have a good understanding of the game. Any tips?
Awesome! Since it's your first time playing, just observe for a bit, I guess. Get a feel for how the RP goes. And if you've done that already (seems you have) then you're all set!

Quoting Clever Crowe Fantastically detailed - all that alternating bichrome work really sets off the contrast defining edges of limbs and armor segments. Gotta say I like the way that older Baruka mask looks on the fig, but was pleased to see you do the Custom coloring for the update. Cheers, Chro!~
