The Grey Havens
My latest project, a model of The Grey Havens.
About this creation
Hey everyone,

I hope you've had (or are having) a great day! Well, I started building the Havens four or five months ago. However, due to a variety of reasons, it was left alone, scrapped, started all over again, left alone and now finally completed! I'm very pleased with how it turned out and in my opinion, this is my best MOC so far. Like all my other LotR builds, this MOC is based upon both the movie and the book.

I really hope you enjoy it!

The MOC was built on a number of different scales, mainly because I didn't even have close to the number of bricks it would take to build it all to mini-fig scale. This proved to be quite a challenge, but I think it turned out well in the end.

The large tower. This was the first thing I built.

The harbour with its towers. I completely used up my rock and water pieces on it.

Some shots without the sky.

The micro-scale towers, buildings and ships. These were so fun to build!

A WIP shot.

And one final FP shot.

Thanks a lot for viewing everyone! As always, I appreciate feedback and CC.

God Bless,

~Mark

great forced perspective build you have there with analog incremental forced perspective as compared to most people's step-function, or digital take on forced perspective. It's really an optimal use of your bricks too! This is a clever technique

Quoting Elk Guard Great FP, though I wish more of he stairs were visible in the main shot cause their effect is reall good in the wide shots!
Thanks! Yeah, I would have liked that as well. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough light blue bricks to extend the sky far enough.

Lots of good stuff happening here, Mark. I like the odd angles that you pulled off in a few areas and the varied scales to give that FP effect really worked well for you. The architecture, though, is what really makes this MOC what it is. Superb.

Quoting Elliott Feldman http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/315753 At first glance I thought it was a repost of that, but then I took a closer look and was like "Nope!" Inspiration, maybe? It's cool to see two creations that are so much alike, yet you can see the builder's distinct style coming out in them. Good job. It's always fun to see a good Lord of the Rings creation!
Thanks Elliot! Yes, it was partly inspired by that MOC and partly inspired by a fellow MOCer who challenged me to build the Havens.

Quoting Stephen Boe Very nice color choices! Fantastic architecture as well! From the thumbnail, the sunset looks like Sauron's eye, :P. I think the rockwork on the right of the pictures need more variety, it's all really straight and doesn't have enough angles. Other than that, solid build!
Thanks Stephan! Yeah, I agree that the rocks on the right look kinda uniform. Unfortunately, I ran out of pieces before I got to that part. I'm fairly happy with how they look considering I only had large slopes left.
