Space Rail Yard
The Space Rail Yard answers the call to sort train cars and get the trains ready for departure!
About this creation

The Classic Space astronauts found the locomotives from the old Red Cargo Train and Freight Rail Runner and sent them to the chop shop to be torn down and rebuilt to standard. Note: they have all of the tools and equipment to take the locomotives apart, but not to put them back together.

The shunter/switcher is a self-contained power unit, complete with a set of Power Functions Lights in both the front and back, Battery Box, PF Train Motor, and IR Receiver.

Inside the cab, a complete control setup is there for the engineer's convenience. This includes the non-functioned yet mandatory steering wheel and the "big red button" that no one knows what the function of it is.

The container car holds three standard 4x8 containers. Note: I found the instructions for this on Brickshelf, but I cannot remember where. If anyone knows, please inform me so that I can give proper credit.

The tipping car was also salvaged from the Red Cargo Train. Since it still served its function, it was given a paint job.

The open freight wagon holds several propellant canisters. Do note that there are no warning placards of any kind installed. Use beware.

The control/maintenance tower stands by to direct train traffic and answer any maintenance calls that are made within the yard.

The maintenance rover is a modified Surface Transport. It can haul more tools and parts than the original design, which is either a step forward or backwards in terms of Classic Space logic.

The set in its entirety.

*Twitch's Remarks*
This is actually the third Classic Space Train set that I made, but second to be fully completed. My designated freight train is waiting for a commissioned rover to be built in the digital world (the blueprints have been received, but the lead designer has not gotten around to implementing it yet). I had a lot of fun with this build, and perhaps the most challenging aspect was to fit all of the Power Functions components into such a small space in the locomotive. It works, though.
Please rate, comment, and enjoy!

Quoting David Alexander Smith I'd love to see this built form real bricks at a convention some time soon.
I would, too. I have no clue what my next real brick MOC will be.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 I love the whole kit except for the loco, all grey is a bit too plain, as I never liked the cs kits that where all grey, adding blue and a touch of yellow would bring it to life, the rest is excellent!
The locomotive was blue and gray at first, but it did not look right. All gray looks better. Plus it helps it stand out from the other main line locomotives.

Quoting Murdoch 17 Great job Twitch! I can't wait to see what you do after the rover is finished.
A part of one of your MOCs makes an appearance, albeit slightly modified (by modified I mean elongated) in the next Classic Space Train set.
