4-8-4 Emerald Northern Version 2.0 AWESOMESAUCE Edition
Here is the new and improved version of the 4-8-4 Emerald Northern, part of the Emerald Night class of locomotives, brought to you exclusively by Nacho Enterprises Railway System (NERS).
About this creation

The new 4-8-4 Emerald Northern from NERS features several upgrades over the original version, both in performance and in aesthetics.

Here is the original version, which was too plain and needed a facelift.

Here are the two versions next to each other. The front of the new version includes additional lights on the smokebox, an additional light above the smokebox, and smoke deflectors.

The original pilot truck.

The new pilot truck features some additional detailing. Also seen is the larger piston area.

The top of the boiler was very plain and looked too European. Since I like to mix American and European styles, I had to fix this.

The update includes external sand and steam domes, thus giving it more of an American feel to it. Plus it adds lots of details and greebley goodness!

The original wheel wells were too angular.

New wheel wells were fitted to help give a more smooth and sleek look.

The old tender was very basic.

The new tender, while keeping true to the original shape and design, looks more suited for the larger locomotive.

This is a completely self-contained unit. It contains the two PF Train Motors, IR Receiver, Battery Box, and Control Switch.

Here is a mock-up of the wheels to see how they would work. This uses the original trailing truck setup.

Seen here, the original trailing truck did not work so well on curves.

This is the original trailing truck setup.

This is the new version of the trailing truck that works much better.

Here is the Emerald Northern with its rake of coaches.

*Twitch's Remarks*
This upgrade has been long overdue. It is something that I have been fiddling with for a long time, and now I am finally happy with the final result. It looks more like a real locomotive over my first 4-8-4 Emerald Northern designs.
As always, please rate, comment, and enjoy!

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 a nice polish on an already great design! I can t wait to see a real version, as I know you have the real emerald train at home, xd.
I also have the original Emerald Night, which is where my love of making variants came from. I am unsure when the real version will be made since real life takes priority in some cases.

Quoting jd davis Great work! Now I need to finish my new loco! Love the improvements on the original!
I look forward to your new locomotive! This is technically my third version of the 4-8-4 Emerald Northern, which has become somewhat of my flagship steam locomotive. I have put more time and effort into this one over all of my others.
