Well after a long and gruelling building time its finally done. A Star Wars Imperial shuttle to minifigure scale. I knew I wantedto start a large project but picking the subject to do it on was not an easy one. Finally I decided on the Imperial shuttle for its Sleek angles and lovely white color scheme. I had tons of fun working on this ship, it has a ton of difficult angles and the functions were a great challenge. When I started on this build I wanted it to have everything it would have in the movie. That means all the boarding ramps cargo hatches and of course the folding wings and interior. Well I hope you enjoy all my hard work, here is the Imperial shuttle...
About this creation
And here ends the beautiful photoshopped pictures, thanks to my friend Matthew for doing these for me.
Here is a picture of the stand it sits on. Believe me it look really awesome sitting on my shelf on this guy.
Now here you see it in its grounded form. Boy was that wing function a pain to get right. I figured out a way to have the sleek look in both landing and flight mode while staying durable is not an easy task. Also notice the foldable landing gear.
Here is the interior of the shuttle. I designed it to have an easy pop off roof for easy access into the interior. I quite like how it turned out.
Here is the classic scene with Vader or the Emperor(whichever you prefer) exiting the shuttle.
Now this was a tough part. Getting the perfect shaping of the cockpit while having the ramp and the pilot space simultaneously exisiting in the exact same place. Oh it sure gave me headaches, but I managed to figure out a way to suspend the cockpit in the air while the ramp is able to come down from underneath.
Here is an extra cargo hatch, just in case they are hauling someything other that just Vader.
Well there it is everyone I hope you enjoyed it. Please feel free to leave any constructive criticism for me in the comments. Thanks for viewing, God bless.
That is pretty amazing, Justin. Immediately recognizable and I just love that you included an interior. When I first saw it, I thought it was strictly micro. The interior caught me off guard. Some top notch photo editing as well.
And here I was thinking the lego version was close. D'oh! There is so much awesomeness everywhere! Making it look really sleek while keeping the functions is great! :D It's probably impossible, but I challenge you (oh boy I'm sound like Nick Pascale...) to make a space in the cockpit. ;)
I bet you'll leave it be, (as I do with most builds. Once I say to myself that it's finished, the most I do is play with it. XD ) but no matter. THIS THING'S STINKIN' AWESOME!
Brilliant job! So awesome and just the sort of thing many of us wish we could build if only we had enough bricks...I love how you have made yours fully functional, it really is an improvement compared to TLG's version, even though theirs is bigger.
You should be proud. :)
