I had a blast building this one! I even want to revisit this when my collection is able to build the entire house. Since my small pieces in light tan were scarce, I decided to go larger. As such, there was no way I could build the entire exterior. I just did the main shot that you see when you search for this house via Google image search. I think it turned out great! By far my favorite part of this MOC is the stonework. The entire build (besides the tan walls and the flooring) is built with the studs upside-down (pointing downwards).
I hope you enjoyed this creation!
Huge thanks to the judges for putting a lot of time and effort into this contest! It is greatly appreciated!
I should also note that I will be taking a time off from LEGO contests because it just takes too much time away from other things and it is a bit stressful with the amount of schooling I'm doing these days. I'll still be around here on MOCpages and putting out a few builds here and there, but I won't be building for any contests for quite a while.
I'll be around more on MOCpages now that I'm done building for this contest, so I'll get back to commenting on your LEGO creations again soon :)
Thank you all so much for the encouraging comments! I really had a blast with this one. And yes, I too want to finish this, but alas, it won't be for another few years due to the lack of pieces necessary to finish it on this scale.
Just simply gorgeous work, David. It really turned out well. I love all the window work, and I couldn't agree with you more, that stonework is among my favorite effects that I've seen from a MOC to date. And as for building the whole thing upside down...well, now you're just showing off;)
David, before you throw in the towel on this, I am BEGGING you to finish this! This is truly a fantastic start to something of such tremendous potential and glorious beauty that it really needs to be fully realized. Your stonework is astounding. And the balconies and patio are worthy of their own page. I don't mean to drone on, but this was instantly recognizable and is just the beginning of a masterpiece. Regardless of the competition here, it is my humble and honest opinion that you have hit on an outstanding concept that Wright himself would enjoy seeing realized. Unbelievably fantastic!
