Future Tech Time: Build a piece of tech whether itís a car or spaceship or even a desktop computer. Just build it how you would imagine it in the future.
The GARC series visits the Omicronian system, more specifically Omicron Persei 8, for the Omicron 8000. Here, the Ferrari MB-1989 of Rolf and Hans Gutenberg races the RJ Industries 501 of Adriano Traficante and Ernesto Vescovi for position.
The GARC building theme was created by Flickr member .Tromas and really took off a few months ago. It recently made a comeback with some micro GARC racers. Here's info about the theme:
In the future humans become bored of watching cars zoom around dirt tracks at break-neck speeds. So they look to the stars for their highspeed viewing pleasure, asteroid belts to be specific. Only the best starcraft pilots are crazy brave enough to fly these ships. Turbo charged and wildly painted, they zoom in and around asteroids on death defying courses.
-Must have 2 crew members per ship (pilot & navigator)
-Must look FAST
-The crazier the colour scheme the better
On to the ships!
Same as the main, a bit higher resolution.
Small breakdown of the shot, I have a stand underneath the planet with a 64x64 baseplate as the background.
On to the ships!
Left - RJ Industries 501
Right - Ferrari MB-1989
Overview of the 501. Nicknamed the "Taxicab."
MB-1989. Based on the Triakis ship from the Wipeout game series. I thought a red, white, and blue Ferrari would be interesting.
There we go! Micro GARC's for the Mocathalon!
Fourth Wall: This was a fun category to build. I originally intended these to be for the Future Sports category but one of my teammates beat me to it, so I settled for Future Tech. Basically in this instance rally racing is no longer chained to the Earth - it has taken to the stars and teams use the latest in anti-gravity technology to reach breakneck speeds in asteroid fields. It's the mentality of GARC - fits perfect for the wild and dangerous future of racing!
