Hooohhh...kssshhhhh.....hooohhh...kssshhhhh

In A.D. 2196, an alien race invaded Earth. After landing on, and destroying, New York City, the aliens began terraforming the planet. The atmosphere was filled with noxious gases, and the majority of human life was eradicated. However, several groups of humans live still, thanks to their rebreather helmets, which were designed to filter out the oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide needed for survival.

When I first looked at the category, I was under the impression that the technology had to be life-sized. So, I began formulating plans for a helmet. But I asked the judges, and they said it could be whatever scale I wanted. I debated for a while, and finally thought, "The heck with it. If I can pull this off, it'll be good."

This was one of the hardest things I've ever built. Period. A life-sized, wearable helmet. What was I thinking?! And one more thing: I built this in about ten hours over three days. The helmet itself is quite heavy and uncomfortable. Believe it or not, there's a 2x8 plate digging into the wearer's nose. But it looks blasted cool, if I do say so myself. And there's just something special about wearing a helmet you made out of Legos.

This is my seventh, and last entry in the 2014 MocAthalon. The MocAthalon has definitely been a beneficial experience. I feel that my skill has improved quite a bit since the beginning of the month.

I'd like to thank the judges for putting this awesome contest together. It's been a whole lot of fun!

C&CC appreciated!
Soli Deo Gloria!

The fact that you can wear it is just so cool! I think it could be a bit improved aesthetically, but great job nonetheless!
